SDoolittle Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 College football is less than three weeks away. Who do you think will walk away with the crystal football at the end of the season? The poll contains the USA Today Top Ten, but if you're predicting someone else, let us know. Keep in mind that neither Auburn or Oregon made the preseason top ten last year. Quote
hookingem Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Football is much better on Sundays. Where player's lockout, play with little emotion, are all about the almighty dollar bill, and show no team unity. Your right..... <_< 2 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 17, 2011 Super User Posted August 17, 2011 Oklahoma is going to run away with it this year. Best offense in the country with a solid defense as well. Once they get past Florida St, it's all downhill. 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 17, 2011 Super User Posted August 17, 2011 My vote is for LSU but the winner of the SEC will be your National Champions 1 Quote
Quillback Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Arkansas. And if it's not Arkansas, Alabama or LSU. Quote
McBee Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 LSU was lucky last year with their wins, not saying they are a bad team, but they won a couple of games by getting lucky. I dont think they will go all the way this year. Alabama has a good chance this year, other than LSU, Arkansas, their schedule should be tolerable to go undefeated. Oklahoma, has a solid team to go undefeated. FSU is my team, i hope they win it all, I predict ACC champs for FSU, but no National Champs. 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 17, 2011 Super User Posted August 17, 2011 Arkansas!!! Wooo Pig Soooieee!!! Jeff Quote

GrundleLove Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 College football: The most corrupt organization second to only jai alai and cóck fighting. Go Team! 1 Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 17, 2011 Super User Posted August 17, 2011 Where player's lockout, play with little emotion, are all about the almighty dollar bill, and show no team unity. Your right..... <_< "Play with little emotion". You must not watch the same NFL that I watch. Quote
SDoolittle Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 Will someone please start another thread comparing NFL to NCAA football? This one was meant for us college football fans to talk a little thrash about the upcoming season. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted August 17, 2011 Super User Posted August 17, 2011 Alabama going to win it all. 10 returning starters on defense, a very experienced offensive line and a really good running back. Enough said, end of story, move on. Quote
Quillback Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Yep Alabama is going to be tough, I believe Arkansas plays at Alabama this year, I'm sure Alabama will be favored, but Arkansas should play tough. It looks like the new QB for Arkansas will be good, if so Arkansas will be dangerous. Quote
McBee Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Why is Boise on this list? Even if they go undefeated, BCS polls wont give them a shot at national title. Quote
SDoolittle Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Why is Boise on this list? Even if they go undefeated, BCS polls wont give them a shot at national title. Because it's the preseason top ten, and they're ranked #7. If they finish undefeated, and there are multiple other undefeated teams, you are probably correct. But if they are one of two or less unbeaten teams, they will play in the championship game. If they take a loss, they're through. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted August 18, 2011 Super User Posted August 18, 2011 Like I've said for the past few years. If an SEC team is lucky enough to make it through their conference with a good record and minor injuries then they will win the Championship. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 18, 2011 Super User Posted August 18, 2011 I'd love to say that the SEC run is over, but Alabama looks like they're going to be awesome again and you never know if Spurrier finally has a potential championship team. However, it's OU's title to lose. BOOMER SOONER!!! 2 Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 As much as it kills me to say it, gotta give it to UT-Norman. They are loaded. Broyles is the best player in the country regardless of position. Even with Lewis hurt, the d is gonna be stout as goat pi**. Cory Nelson will be all world. I hate them with every bone in my body, but this looks to be the best big 12 team since the Horns won it all. 1 Quote
hookingem Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If Lsu's Jordan Jefferson can learn to throw the ball a little I think they will be pretty solid. Although Alabama may be lacking a little offensively their defense may carry them to the national championship. Quote
Shane Procell Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 The National Champs will come from the SEC.....again....Guaranteed! It's where the big boys play! I'am taking L.S.U. Quote
SDoolittle Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 The AP poll was just released, and it looks like the sports writers agree with the coaches. Numbers 1-4 are identical. Numbers 5-9 are the same schools in a different order. Nebraska replaces Wisconsin at #10. Just two weeks to go! Quote
Super User Root beer Posted August 21, 2011 Super User Posted August 21, 2011 Uh, LSU fans, http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/45167/lsus-les-miles-is-fighting-mad 1 Quote
lsufan334 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Uh, LSU fans, http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/45167/lsus-les-miles-is-fighting-mad yup they just needed to get pumped up for the season i guess??? I have been keeping track of this all weekend and idk what to make of it. I do know the meeting between the four players and the BRPD scheduled for tomm. has been postponed indeffinately (sp) according to the teams lawyer. So idk but not good if your starting your season off against the #3 team in the country in a neutral site location and not Kent State Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 22, 2011 Super User Posted August 22, 2011 FYI: Zach Mettenberger: Played one season at Butler Community College leading him team to an 11-1 record and a berth in the JUCO National Championship Game. Threw for 2,678 yards and 32 touchdowns with only four interceptions ... Connected on 176-of-299 passes for a 58.9 completion percentage. Enrolled at LSU in January of 2011 and went through spring practice ... Completed 5-of-8 passes for 86 yards, including a 60-yard TD pass, in the LSU spring game. Quote
