LWD Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Hello, I would like to get an aquarium and put in a bream. What tank size and other items are needed? Thanks for your time. LWD Quote
bass or bass ? Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 At least 29 gallon. Only put in one. The dominant fish will harass and eventually kill weaker ones. I also recommend a poured resin "wood" stump that can be purchased at an aquarium store. Mine is hollow with roots that support the stump (like legs) and provide an area under the stump where fish can hide and swim through. I use plastic plants as I can't keep real ones alive. I also have 5" channel cat and a plecostomus cat (to keep the glass clean) in my tank. Quote
Avid Angler FL Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I would reccomend getting two, but catch them both at the same time out of the same body of water and introduce them into a 55g tank. 55s are perfect for bluegill, redears, and just about any other type of sunnies. Just make sure your water conditions are good, and the pH stays at a good level. Also, make sure you have a good filter rated for slightly over 55g, that way your tank stays pristine, and do water changes, about 15-20% every week or two. Quote
LWD Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Hey thanks a lot y'all for your recommendations so just one sunny for at least a 29 gallon tank. A hollow log so it can hide or swim through. A 5" channel cat I bet that's going to get big. I'll buy some plastic plants. Keep it clean and water changes every week. Thanks for the tips. Quote
Avid Angler FL Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Sounds like you're off to a great start. And again, try to get a fingerling fish, that way it'll be more willing to adapt, and it'll grow to know you. Quote
tholmes Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Check your state regs. and be sure it's legal. Tom Quote
