CFFF 1.5 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I may have been able to argue and win but I don't use left hand reels anyway so it wasn't a big deal. Are the computer sale prices set per store or are they set by the headquarters? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 Scanned a Stradic today. It rang up as clearance and currently an additional 50% off so end price was like $69 or something like that. Checked the Curados, same deal (50% off clearance price) The prices are set by corporate but I have been unable to ascertain whether or not they are universal across the country or if the vary by region or even district. Super User J Francho Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 Here's the problem.....there are misinformed managers, and 1/2 the time, items do not ring up properly at the register when I shop at any of my three local Dick's. What's funny, the reels in one location are locked in a storage cabinet in a side room, and not on display. I asked the manager how he expected to sell them. He said they don't sell many anyway. Gee, I wonder why? I asked him why he was being so protective of discontinued product. I managed to get their entire inventory, but it was a freaking battle, and I got the feeling I not welcome at their store. Yes, I relayed this experience through the "Contact us" link on the site, so not really complaining here, just explaining how I got the deal that others received. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 Sounds like the store employees are BS'ing customers so they could buy them when you guys leave Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 You would have thought, but I 1st bought two, one for myself, and one to sell. When I got in the next morning, I had much more demand than I had anticipated, so I went back two days later, and they were all there. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 23, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2011 The email I got telling me bout the sale said rods and reels were included Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 I wish I got that email. Would have loved to had it to show the manager. He basically whisked me out the door, he was so PO'd. Too funny. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 23, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2011 What's ur email I'll forward it I have it right on my phone incase they said the same thing to me I could show him but he was good about it and even pointed out other things on sale like line and other lures like rage thumpers Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted August 23, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2011 The manager at greece well he's what the store is called at least the bald guy me and him got into last year I threatned to rip him over the counter and show him a thing or two lol. Now when I go if he's there I just avoid that section or if I need assistance I ask for some one diffrent. Quote

The prices at the register are correct. The discrepancies are caused by the signage not being updated/changed which is generally due to poor staffing or laziness. All reels above a certain price point must be locked up as per company policy. The way the system is INTENDED to work is to have people ask the associate to see the display reel, then have the associate go get a new reel from the backroom when the customer decides to make the purchase. If they didn't have one of each reel on display then they were either hiding them for themselves* or behind the ball. Another possibility is that they didn't have room and wanted to display reels that are hot sellers. I sell probably 25-30 sub-$50 reels for every 1 over $50 reel. *They may hide the reels for themselves and keep them in a back room without purchasing them while they wait for the prices to continue dropping. Once something receives a .97 ending the price periodically drops until it is sold. If it's in the back room, eventually they can get it for super cheap. Obviously that's not an accepted practice but I'm sure it does happen. Quote
maineman Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Went to Dick,s today for the curado. The price in the glass case said 179.99, no .97 so there is no way i thought the curado was on sale. I asked one of the clerks if the curado was on sale like i had seen on the internet. He scanned the reel and asked what i had seen for a price on the internet. I said 75.00 dollars and that that is what it rang up for! Sweet deal!!!! Quote
Diggy Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Im dumb late but Im going to take a trip over there Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 23, 2011 Super User Posted August 23, 2011 They rang up at the register initially for $149.97. The cashier did a manual override. Quote
steezy Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Once you fish Shimano you’ll throw rocks @ everything else Quote
j.bruno Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 What one of you guys cleaned out the curados in auburn before me? waa Quote

Diggy Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 None were there, I saw a citica on the display that was left handed but it felt like it was filled with quicksand Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 24, 2011 Super User Posted August 24, 2011 C'mon guys... Start your own thread if you want to talk another brand. It's free! :D Quote
hookingem Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hayden why do you flame on Shimano stuff so much now? Curado's rule! You set them once and forget about. oh yea find me a Diawa that can even come close to a Curado in performance for 65$. Quote
Fat-G Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I'm just joking man my 50e is a good reel. We caught 4 tonight one was 9.5 Quote
MAD Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 A Curado 201E7 followed me home today to join a Citica 201D and a Curado 301DSV to form my own little Shimano posse. $61.97 was the total. I love my round Abus, but the first time I casted my Citica, I backlashed soooo badly. I never expected a reel to rocket a lure like that. Mike Quote
