Red Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I got on the lake early this morning, about 6:10am, it was still dark. Started with a black Cavitron, had three keepers in the first 20 minutes. In the next 40 minutes I got 2 more keepers. Buzzbait bite died so I grabbed the flippin stick and went to work with a PB&J Eakins Jig with a Paca Chunk trailer. Ended the day about 9:30am with 10 total, eight being keepers. Anyway it was a nice morning for fishin and I had a blast. Here is a (crappy) pic of the biggest one of the day. By the way, every single bass was caught in less than three feet of water!! Thanks for lookin Cliff Quote
Red Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 Wow! That pic is worse than I thought!! Only have my phone and it was still dark as you can see. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 14, 2011 Super User Posted August 14, 2011 Awesome outing you had, bro. But, I don't know how you early birds do it. Do you go home and back to bed or are you up the rest of the day? Quote

Sometimes I take a nap in the afternoon, sometimes I am up the rest of the day. It is worth being tired to beat the idiots at the ramp and catch some fish. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 15, 2011 Global Moderator Posted August 15, 2011 Nice fish Red! Getting up early and beating the crowd is the only way to do it in that little boat! I got used to doing that and now even though I have a bigger boat I'm usually on the water from 4am-4pm. A lot of the time when it's hot I'll catch a majority of my fish before 10am when it isn't super hot yet. Quote
ICU812 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Nice man looks like a real peaceful time to be out! Quote
brushhoggin Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 nice red. wish i could get out there with ya. i still get up early as crap, but i'm tryin to beat tha heat, not other fishermen. i'm done by 10 usually and if I don't nap it screws my bodys system up so bad. i'm miserable and sleepy till i get caught up but it's worth every second! Fat-G Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 If I pond-hop early, I'm out the door by 5 and back in bed by 9. Nice fish man! Quote
Diablos Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I love early morning fishing. There is nothing like getting to a lake/pond before the sun. Plus it helps to beat the tourney guys there and join a 15 boat conga line. Your grainy pic says it all to me. A fun time before sun up Quote
