I'm from Maine quarter mile from sebago where you from?

Portland, ME answering the call

Hey guys thanks for the responses! I'm up in Bangor/Brewer area so Portland/Sebago is a little far but we can probably figure something out. Aren't there stripers running down there about now? I could probably take a road trip down there sometime either way.

amitysanimal - Carmel is really close to me! We should definitely get together. I have a little 14'boat with electronics and some tackle, and I'm no expert but we should be able to find some fish! Have you tried Sebasticook? I've been wanting to go try that lake, I hear there are some trophy bass there. I think Etna and Hermon are supposed to be so-so as well. Let me know what you think and how your schedule is looking. Feel free to PM me!

Thanks for the responses guys!

i fished a tourny on Sebasticook about 8 years ago and we did pretty good. I haven't been back but plan to this year. I have good luck on Hermon in the spring catching black crappie but haven't had much luck bass fishing. Etna hasn't been very productive for me either, but I want to try it more because I haven't really had time to give it a good going over. I usually go to Stetson (Pleasant ) pond, I have done ok there but again usually am in a hurry and don't really get into the fish, but I know they are there.

My boat is a 14' Starcraft with a 35HP Johnson and a Minn Kota Powerdrive bow mount trolling motor, and 3 fish finders. I have to admit though I really need help using the fishfinders better. When I go fishing I usually have the kids and am pretty busy tending to them, changing lures, getting them unstuck, etc.

I am definitely up for getting together to go fishing, we will have to make it a priority.

You and I are going to go fishing together soon before you leave this great state! <_< I just have to put some new tires on the trailer, they aren't looking too good. Maybe we can get together sometime in the next two weeks. P.M me. Just has to be during the weekdays because I'm usually fishing tournaments or fishing with my father on the weekends.

I will be on East Grand Lake with my Kids until Monday and could use some tips to get them into some fish. We are camping in Trout Cove on the Canadian side and have tried the thoroughfare for pickerel and only had one strike. I really want to catch some bass and was hoping someone can point me in the direction of where to go and what to use. I am thinking of trying some 3" senkos on a drop shot rig in 20 to 30 foot of water. Any ideas as where to go and different tackle tips?

I've been a little M.I.A. for a bit but hopefully things will be calm and my schedule should be pretty free here for a while so yeah like marinetech said I'm definitely down to meet somewhere in the middle and amitysanimal you're right we should make it a priority to meet up asap! Srry I don't have any tips on East Grand Lake - haven't been there. Good luck though!

Mainebassman - yeah man we gotta get together here man I'm gonna PM you right now. I'm at your service as far as scheduling and location, and I really can't wait man - it'll be nice to meet up with you and I know I'll learn a lot by seeing how you target these bass up here!

what happen to the get together ?

Do you realize how hard it is to get a bunch of Mainers organized to meet together? :D It would have been cool maybe some of us will actually bump into each other on accident. We Maine bass fishermen and Fisherwomen need to stick together if you ever go to some of these meetings the so called lake associations don't like us very much and are doing everything they can to shut our bass tournaments down and prevent us from bass fishing.

I'm sick and tired of paying for a fishing license just to have the state spend it on all of the cold water species and then turn their backs on us bass fishermen!!!

You going to hire a guide? Do you have a boat or are you going to fish from the banks? Kennebec River has good striper fishing and bass fishing. Penobscot river has excellent smallmouth fishing 50-100 fish days are not uncommon. Downeast Maine has a lot of great smallmouth and largemouth waters that recieve very little fishing pressure. May is a great month for bass fishing lots of fat, hungry bass feeding up before the spawn. You can go here: http://www.another site.org/bassfish/reports/maine/ and read up on some past fishing reports and get a little bit of an idea of where to go.

If the link doesn't work just type in maine bass fishing reports in you web browser search.

Thx for your help, because it isn't very easy to plan a trip in a country with soooo many rivers, lakes and ponds.

my Brother and i planed to fish from the bank, but we want to charter ones or twice a boat for fishing. And maybe we hire a quide for fishing on stripers.

In which distrikt do you live in maine?

I live in "Downeast" Maine, Washington county. I have two main rivers and about a dozen lakes within one hour of my house that are just over flowing with bass, lol. Just make sure when you come here that you purchase a Maine non-resident fishing license, our Warden service doesn't mess around and they love to ruin someone's day. You can purchase one online here http://www.maine.gov/ifw/ this is the quickest and easiest way. Hope you have a great trip.

Oh don't over think it, pretty much any body of water in Maine that has bass listed in them will most likely be a good fishery, some produce numbers and some produce size!

thanks for the tip regards the license.I will check it a few weeks earlier at www.main.gv.com. Is this possible that they send me the license after paying home,or must i check it in maine at the office?

You buy online and you can print it at home on your printer, very easy to do. Just remember to sign the printed license
