LWD Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Howdy, I was out fishing yesterday with a 5' purple senko caught something didn't feel like a bass real strong fighter. Just wondering if anyone has caught a catfish using a senko? Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted August 12, 2011 Super User Posted August 12, 2011 I've caught just about everything that swims on a Senko. Except a catfish! I've caught both LM & SM bass, walleye, carp, white perch, yellow perch, salmon, lake trout and rainbow trout. Don't see why catfish wouldn't eat one either. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 12, 2011 Super User Posted August 12, 2011 I agree, no reason why a catfish wouldn't take a Senko or other soft plastic. I've caught them on crankbaits, Chatterbaits and grubs on jigheads, why not other lures? Quote
LWD Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 I don't see why they wouldn't either myself. Thanks. Quote
endless Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Same here never caught any on any kind of Senko. Actually pull out two bass with a watermelon from the same hole that my brother was fishing near and he pulled out two cats with a Powerbait or Gulp can't remember. He was cussing me I know that for the bass, lol. Quote
BassThumb Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I've caught river channel cats on various soft plastics and jigs, including Senkos. I don't think they're too picky. They really like tube jigs in particular. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 13, 2011 Global Moderator Posted August 13, 2011 I've caught tons of cats on cranks, jigs, and plastics. Caught a couple on spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, rattletraps, spoons, and even a buzzbait and frog. I've also had friends catch 1 flathead over 20 pounds and one over 30 on spinnerbaits out of my boat. They are not just scavengers like they are rumored to be and will certainly eat a senko. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 13, 2011 Super User Posted August 13, 2011 I have caught a lot of channel cats on senkos when targeting bass. They are predators too. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 13, 2011 Super User Posted August 13, 2011 Yes. James River in Virginia. Quote
Quillback Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Caught a 10 lb. channel on a wacky rigged Senko this spring, son of a gun hammered it right after it hit the water, I saw what it was right away so I didn't suffer the "I got a big bass... dang it it's a catfish" letdown. 1 Quote
hatrix Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I have only caught 1 on a senko and it was around 10# and it grabbed it as soon as it hit the water. On the other hand I have caught a bunch using tubes. They really seem to like the tubes. Quote
JoePhish Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Caught on a Senko (323). Caught a bunch of smaller ones too but this guy was a suprise coming out of my condo lake. 1 Quote
dulouz Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I have caught cats on cranks, in-line spinners, twisters, and buzz baits. Last year I caught more cats fishing for bass than I did fishing for cats. I figure the lure landed right infront of them and they reacted. Quote
