Super User Jigfishn10 Posted August 12, 2011 Super User Posted August 12, 2011 Just came back from fishing and had an urge for some clam chowder, so I got my elixir simmering up right now! It's summer time, so it's chowder time. Which is your favorite style? Quote
MAD Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 New England clam chowder is the ONLY kind. Anyone ever been to the Black rose in Boston and have it in the giant bread bowl? Now that;s eatin'. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 13, 2011 Super User Posted August 13, 2011 Toss up between the white and the clear, though I lean to the clear. However, it's not as prevalent as the white. Quote
GTrombly Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I haven't been to the black rose but I went to the barking crab last week and it was pretty good. Quote

Big Al23 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 There is only one place that has the best Chowder..........Noname! If you don't know Boston, it is the name of the restaurant. The Noname. Their Seafood chowder is the pinnacle of all chowders. Man, could I go for a bowl right now! Quote

NBR Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 New England without a doubt. Manhattan in my experience is vegtable soup with a few clams thrown-in to give it taste. (I don't care for vegtable soup) I've never had the clear. Sounds like some thing worth a try. Quote

Nashua Nev Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 My wife just made a great batch of New England corn chowda with fresh corn 20 minutes off the stalk. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted August 29, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 29, 2011 So New England style reins supreme! Let's talk viscosity: Thin - Medium - Thick - Really Thick? I'm a medium guy, used to be a thick and creamy chowder head, but in Maine, they have generally serve it soup thin, so I went (make it) in the middle. How about you guys, Quote
grampa1114 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Just befoah the spoon can stand alone...good for me...lotsa salt and peppa please... Quote
