so i was talking with a local fisherman when he told me about what happened to him recently. he said that he was out fishing in an area with a lot of boat traffic, and he was using heavy braid for pike. what happened was that a small boat with an engine ran over his line but didn't break it. instead he said it tangled his line and pulled the rod out of his hand and he lost his rod in the lake. i still have a hard time beleiving it but i was wondering if it is possible.

If the line got wrapped around the prop and the boat was moving away from him at high speed the rod and reel would have been gone very quickly (if the drag was set too tight). Totally plausible

braid floats and there are a lot of inconsiderate boaters out there, heck I have been close to having it happen to me before.

If that happened to me... Minn kota up... And i'd be after him. Guaranteed my Ranger is faster.

Id get my reel and rod back out of the water or out of his wallet!!!

It seems like common sense to me to reel up your line before a boat cruises over it.
