Hey all,

I know this has been covered but I'm still unsure if I made the right choice in getting a 200e5 curado over the e7. I have been using a citica which is in the middle and better overall for general use. After reading the old tackletour review I liked the e5's cranking power and ability to toss smaller size swimbaits. I dont think I'll be tossing many cranks or spinners but will want to toss smaller swimbaits and unweighted senkos etc.

Would it be okay for these or should I change it out and get an e7 instead? Just interested in hearing some more experienced opinions ;)

Thanks everyone! pm's are good too

If it's an option, and you won't be throwing a lot of cranks that need slow retrieve to get down deep, then I'd swap it out for the E7. BUT, I admit I have no experience with swimbaits so I really don't know if you need a slow retrieve with them, or a fast one, or if you work them more with the rod. If it's with the rod, then I'd get the E7 just so you could take up line quicker. On senkos, I work them with the rod so the fast retrieve there is fine for me.

Agreed, with all of that. I know I could reel slower with the e7 but if I wanna toss a say up to a 6" swimbait the cranking power might be a bit better to have? Not sure we'll see when it arrives and hopefully get some more insight from everyone on here too :) :)

I'd stay with the e5 if you work em slow like you should be. It might not have enough spool capacity though. Plus your gonna need that power to pull in the lunkers that you get with swimbaits!

E7 for what you're doing. You're not encountering a lot of resistance in swimbaits, which is the primary reason many drop to the 5:1. You'll want the 7:1 fishing plastics and other baits, all but the largest of large cranks I fish are on a 7:1.

Yeah I mean being in socal I have to force myself to fish slow due to the high pressure so that was also an initial thought of going for a slower gear ratio.. Is the cranking power a huge difference from the e7 though? Thats only my other thought is that just with an e7 I'd reel slower but if I did want to chuck out a small swimbait I dont know if it could handle it. My citica has been great handling ikas, senkos, topwaters and even a frog. With fall/winter approaching I thought a small swimbait rig may be great for our trout stocked lakes if it could also handle the occasional soft plastic if need be.

Thoughts?

You'd be fine with a 7:1. I fish swimbaits up to 6" on an E7. There's a minimal difference in power with fish, again, you rely on your rod more for that. When you're chuckin Flat CBd20's and DD22s and Little John Deeps all day, that's when you want to E5.

Alright you guys have me convinced  I'll email the place I ordered from online (got like 25 off the closeout price) and see if they have sent. If so I'll just exchange for the e7. appreciate all of the quick feedback. Initially I wanted the e7 but didn't see it on the site until after I ordered <_< I just want to toss around like a 6" hudd, bbz or similar during the fall and winter and the normal stuff during the spring/summer.
