Lucky Craft Man Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I saw this in another forum and thought it was a great idea. I am wondering if there are any products out there that you purchased that really exceeded your expectations (it can be fishing related or not). Here is my short list (I'm sure there are more things, but this is just what comes to mind): Fishing Related: - Shimano Core (I know these things are expensive and should perform well, but I am just amazed overall how great they perform, how easily they are to service, and how reliable they have been). - Tackle Industries Muskie Rod (Not a very expensive rod, but really has become one of my favorites). - Navionics App for my iPhone (What a great app.! I was hesitant to buy it, but it really was worth the money. Having the Navionics on a touch screen is really a great thing). Non-Fishing Related: - Smartphone (Never imagined how much a smartphone really changes a lot of things you do in life. Really convenient, though the bills associated with it are not). - Visio (This program is incredible. For what I do, I find this program to be invaluable). - Vehicle GPS System (I never realized how much I relied on this thing until my Garmin was stolen). What is on your list? Quote
Avid Angler FL Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 For fishing related, I'd have to mention the Luck-E-Strike 6in Twirl Tail worm that is sold at Wal-Mart. Of course there are better plastic worms out there, you can't beat a 15 pack for like $1.50, they're just simple and effective. They're also scented which I think gives them an advantage. Try em out sometime, T-rig with a 2/0 Eagle Claw offset worm hook and a 1/8-3/16 oz Bullet weight. Excellent little cheap bait, seeing as how I bought them for the fun of it to try them out and see what they'd be like, and I started really getting bit! Definately surprised me! Quote

Super User WRB Posted August 10, 2011 Super User Posted August 10, 2011 Fishing related; Changing over to AGM deep cycle marine batteries from wet cells or gels. Battery maintenance has been an issue for over 50 years. Since installing (Oddessey/Die hard) AGM's battery charging time and life on the water has far exceeded my expectations. I check my batteries every outing from habit and they have been maintenance free, no corrosion to clean, terminals remain tight, they batteries are always clean. Tom Quote
