bocabasser Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 i am setting up another flippin outfit and i want to spool it with flouro. which line and size do you guys recommend for this app. thanks in advance. Quote
Packard Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I recommend Seaguar AbrazX for flipping in cover. I like 10# flouro. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I get really nervous with anything less than 20 lb and that is flipping laydowns. In Florida I assume you are flipping grass and will need to retrieve heavy bunches of grass with each fish. I would not use anything less than 20 lb. I don't get into brands..........Al Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Yep, stay 20+ and you should be fine. I personally use 20lb Invizx for flippin. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I've used 15lb vicious all summer without any problems. We pitched it into all kinds of trash too. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted August 8, 2011 Super User Posted August 8, 2011 If you're straight up flipping- 25lb Abrazx. If you're pitching jigs and plastics to moderately heavy cover 20lb Tatsu. Quote
urp Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I don't flip but I pitch into very heavy willows. Lots of rough bark. I use Stren hi-vis fluoro #15 and drag them out thru some real crap. Have yet to break a line. Quote
powerman970 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 #17 Stren Fluorocast... I also like 15# Vicious Pro Elite. Quote
Big-O Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Bigger is better when flipping or pitching, IMO. We're normally targeting fish that are in junk of some sort and I'm not sure that any fish could notice a difference in fluoro line weights with that type of reaction bite. If I have to use fluoro, 25 Invizx gets the call... Was using Paralleium Pro but it seemed to have too much memory after a hard day of use. Many of our Tx waters cause monos and fluoros to scale up with water deposits making them kink worse than normal. I've found that if I reel my line while lightly pinching it in a damp rag, it helps to remove much of the scale. Also improves the results when following up with line conditioner... again IMO. Fat-G Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I recommend Seaguar AbrazX for flipping in cover. I like 10# flouro. You should flip down here with 10# flouro.... I use braid but if I was going to use flouro it would he AT LEAST 20 pound. Anything under 17 and it would bug me. Not saying it wouldn't work, but I wouldn't be confident in it. Quote

hookingem Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I recommend Seaguar AbrazX for flipping in cover. I like 10# flouro. 10# flouro for flipping cover lawlllzzz. Must be flipping cover for Gills. I like straight braid, but if you have to why not do 65# PP and a 20-25# flouro leader? Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 18, 2011 Global Moderator Posted August 18, 2011 Another vote for at least 20 pound InvisX. If you have the money I've heard great things about Tatsu but it's a little much for me and the InvisX has done everything I've asked it to do. Quote

I like straight braid, but if you have to why not do 65# PP and a 20-25# flouro leader? i have a set up with 65# braid. the reason i want another with flouro is the sound. here in florida, some of the stuff i flip is super heavy. when i flip braid on some types of vegetation, it makes a shrieking sound that i believe spooks some fish. the flouro will not make that sound. jt kenney has a great video on that exact issue, so i want to give it a go. i am going to bite the bullet and spend the cash on 25# invisx. seems like that is the flouro of choice when flipping. It is, indeed. You'll like the Invizx for it. Quote
