TouchTooMuch Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I have a spro bronze jr frog in midnight walker and I love, it has really become one of my go to lures. Recently though, I havent been getting as many bites as I would. I can honestly say I am not the best with the frog but it works for me. I can make it look like a real frog going through the water, but only in a straight line. I was wondering how to make the frog walk side to side? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 It took me a while to figure it out -- it ain't as easy as walking a Spook or a Sammy. I was able to get a frog walking by using very small twitches of the rod tip (with the rod tip down) while I had just a little slack in the line. Quote
dhami013 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 That and trim about an inch off the legs of the frog. It helps it walk. Quote
ripinthem Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Also, if you cut one leg shorter than the other, it gives the long side more drag, and a nice-natural walking action. Quote

Too much of a twitch and you can screw the action up. I'm still learning as a matter of fact. I've been bringing nothing but my frog rod to a few outing just practicing doing nothing but that.My hook up rate is horrible right now....The fish almost completely miss the dang thing. But I tell ya what....This is the first time I've ever had more four pounders or better hit my lure. I'm gonna keep at it...sooner or later I'm gonna get em'.The pay off is gonna be worth it. I've been learning on a paycheck transporter frog....Probably by far my favorite frog right now. Quote
Red Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I too have trouble with walking a frog, I can really only "chug" it. I will keep practicing though. Quote
Fat-G Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I'm pretty good at it, don't walk a frog much though. I like the chug for slop and pads. Quote
