Super User bassfisherjk Posted August 7, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 7, 2011 August 6th Curtis(my eldest son)and I were at Colyer Lake.We caught 13 largemouth,3 were 15 in.We were on the water at 5:30 am and fished till 12:30 am. Air temp. 67-73,H2O temp.76.I caught 6 using Zoom Baby Brush Hog,watermelon/magic.Curtis caught 7 using a bunch of different styles and colors of soft plastic's.The 1st 2 hours we caught most of the fish and we had no rain. After that we had our rain gear on the rest of the time. The last heavy rain I said was it and we loaded up.The lake is around 6 ft. lower than the last time I was there on July 8th.I am sure it is due to the dry weather we have had.I sure wish they would get the dam fixed and let her fill back up. Later. Joe Quote

Later. Joe I was at Colyer on the 7th. All of our fish came on jigs with various craw style trailers (Rage craws and Paca craws mostly). I think we caught about 8 bass and I lost count of the pickerel. One pickerel decided to follow my jig out of the water and smashed it in mid air - that thing was huge, but I didn't get him hooked. Dodged about 4 or 5 rain spells, no lightning though. Probably going back this week, Colyer has been fishing great the past few weeks! Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted August 9, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 9, 2011 Sorry I missed you Nate,we didn't catch many pickerel on this trip. Quote

NateFollmer Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Sorry I missed you Nate,we didn't catch many pickerel on this trip. Yeah I was even going to go Saturday but moved the trip to Sunday... Maybe next time! Can't believe you didn't get a pick... Those things are everywhere on that lake! Nice report on Canoe, hopefully the weeds will be at bay soon. A few tiny lakes around here look like a swamp because of low water and weeds. Quote
Ginger Cox Dixon Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 if you dont care about size a 4 inch green berkley bower grub on a 1/8th jig seems to be deadly on each of these lakes.. pickeral and bass.. fish them both very often. small 1/4oz spinnerbaits in with/black or some shade of gray and purple work wonders at colyer untill summer comes both lakes are extremely heavy pressured Quote
