BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 7, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 7, 2011 Joplin, MO - 415 young anglers who lost everything to the tornado, showed up yesterday, and while we couldn't give them everything back, we could give them back the magic wand of childhood...a fishing pole. Doesn't sound like much...a fishing pole...a bunch of fishing stuff...but for a child who loves to fish, but lost all of the ability to do so, now, at least, they can escape to the peace of a pond, the bank of a river, the gentle rocking of a boat, and for just awhile, escape all the destruction and sadness around them. Thank you to all of you who have given these children back just a little slice of normal life amidst the chaos. To the children of Joplin, please know, all of this was given to you by people from all over the world who care about you. Who want you to know that every storm in life will someday pass, and that the world is still filled with magic wands...and love. Super User Lund Explorer Posted August 8, 2011 Super User Posted August 8, 2011 I never heard anything about the first event with RCBC Outdoors. They did cash my check, but other than that total silence about what they did with the stuff I sent them. Quote

Super User Lund Explorer Posted August 8, 2011 Super User Posted August 8, 2011 Actually Glenn, I was expecting a letter from the group. Of all the different organizations that I have donated to in the past, I don't ever remember not getting a reply back at least thanking me. Granted that most of them were doing so in hopes of future support. I'm not sure if that means that RCBC won't need that help again or not, but I will keep it in mind. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 9, 2011 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 9, 2011 Sorry to see that...we have no way of knowing what donations were sent to that organization (RCBC), or how much, by who, anything like that. Anything that came to Tackle The Storm got a personal shout out on all the social medias plus each were sent a personal email explaining that as soon as Tackle The Storm got the non-profit statues, they would get the information they need to take it off their taxes. I can forward this to a contact at that organization (RCBC )...it's actually just a group of guys who just run things by the seat of their pants and normally only get contributions from their neighbors or church members so I'm pretty sure they have nothing in place to respond. But anything that was donated to Tackle The Storm Foundation got several both very public, and private, note of thanks. Quote

However, I was under the impression that this Tackle the Storm movement was somehow involved with it. The whole thing came about due to an article that Don wrote under that title and provided a mailing address to RCBC. I wouldn't have gotten their address anywhere else if they are only a local outfit. Just another of life's lessons..... Quote
