Diggy Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Spro frog today in sawgrass $10 bucks.....weedless they say... I got a hit on it 2x in a row and went a bit too deep into the cover Red eyed shad in weeds on Thursday $5.49 I bought another one today and didn't realize I bought the heavier size Frog stuck in tree (my friend lost it) but ... $3.50, but I think it was free from Dicks Sporting goods buy 3 get 1 free About 20 bucks down the drain, but the thing is I can probably retrieve all of them if I had a small boat This is one of the reasons I didnt use lures much, it feels like someone kicked my cat in the ribs to lose these precious trinkets. I lost a wacky rigged stick o and didnt even blink. I need a hug Quote
hookingem Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Wait till you lose a 3:16 swimbait second cast to a toothy critter.... 1 Quote
1234567 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Wait till you lose a 3:16 swimbait second cast to a toothy critter.... Amen, I've lost over $100 on a day of fishing before and I know some who lost much more. Thats part of the game! Quote
Blue Streak Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 On certain days it can be a very expensive hobby. I think that is really why the bait makers put treble hooks on their lures. Quote
Diggy Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 That 20 feels like 100 right now. I dont even think I had these lures a full week If I win powerball this month Im buying everyone in this thread a bass boat and 3gs worth of lures and real senkos (100 packs) at 8.29 a pack from BPS I may buy some rubber boots and try to get back my shad....both frogs will have to remain where they are until I get a boat or see the algae guy spraying the lake Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 Fished Lake Gaston on March 5 and did not lose any baits or tackle. Fished Lake Gaston on March 19 and lost five very nice crankbaits and a bunch of tackle. You have to fish where the fish are and you will lose tackle. It is part of the game. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 About 20 bucks down the drain, but the thing is I can probably retrieve all of them if I had a small boat My heart bleeds for you. A small boat: Last Saturday-new aluminum prop $140.00 Last Thursday-new onboard charger $200.00 Yesterday(Friday)- new TM battery because of the bad charger $100.00 Be careful what you wish for. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 Learn how to make better cast or stay away from the weeds. You'd never make it as a saltwater angler if 20 bucks put you down. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 7, 2011 Global Moderator Posted August 7, 2011 When the king shads first came out I was fishing them for wipers during the winter and killing them. Bad thing was wipers pull like a truck and the plastic hinges could only stand so much abuse. I went through over $100 worth of them in a single day. Last Tuesday I was talking to my wife on the I-phone she got me for my birthday in April (despite my protest because of my mistake track record with phones). Well it was super hot and my hands were sweating so I tried to adjust my grip, slip, plop, almost $500 gone.... Not only did I lose my phone but my wife was mad at me when I got home! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 That's part of fishing . Three baits in three days is nothing to fret about. Quote

CoBass Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 $20 in three days? I've done worse than that in 15 minutes. Every bait I buy I consider a rental. I know I'm gonna lose it eventually. Besides, it gives me an excuse to go buy more stuff. I never understood how women can own 200 pairs of shoes and still think they need more, until I looked at my tackle collection. 1 Quote
Red Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I have a Bass Raider and ever since I got it I rarely lose a bait. I can get in pretty tight spots so I just go get them. Actually, I FOUND about $60 worth of baits in a small cove a couple weeks back. Quote
bassnleo Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Just gettin in the thread in case you hit the Powerball. I'd love a new Ranger, that's all I need, I'll pass on the tackle just to save you a little ching. Oh yea, sorry about your baits! That 20 feels like 100 right now. Talmadge Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 yep been there done that! i have a boat and loose lures constantly it sucks but thats what fishings about its all worth it when you catch the big one good luck next time man Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 8, 2011 Super User Posted September 8, 2011 Any activity has a price tag. We have days when every thing is smooth and days when they are not, any thing mechanical can break. A sure fire way to fish and be cost effective is a cane pole and a box of leaf worms, other than that the expenses add up. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Three in Three days thats not bad! I cand do that in an hour! Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted September 9, 2011 Super User Posted September 9, 2011 I've never had my cat kicked in the ribs so I don't know what that feels like but yes, it does sting to lose a good bait. I've been there. It's all part of the game, though. I lose a lot less baits now that I have a boat HOWEVER boat and trailer repairs and gas $ to pull the darn thing (not to mention the cost of the truck itself and insurance) far exceeds the cost of a few lost baits. Quote
bryand82487 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 My worst day was breaking my TM shaft trying to retrieve a bait. Quote
