Super User iceintheveins Posted August 6, 2011 Super User Posted August 6, 2011 How do you guys fish a centipede or french fry, I'm just curious. Basically how do you rig it and what type of retrieve do you use? Quote
BassThumb Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I think most people are using these on Carolina Rigs. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted August 6, 2011 Super User Posted August 6, 2011 Drop shot and C-rig. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 My go to c-rig bait. But also great weightless fished like a senko Quote
Wisconsin Heat. Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 what makes them so good on a c-rig? I have some and im curious. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted August 7, 2011 Super User Posted August 7, 2011 what makes them so good on a c-rig? I have some and im curious. They glide and settle really nicely. They're essentially a "Do nothing" sort of bait. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 7, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 7, 2011 They glide and settle really nicely. They're essentially a "Do nothing" sort of bait. When you guys are C rigging them do you just drag them slowly or do you hop them off the bottom once in a while? I usually use pretty light weights on my C rigs, as light as 1/8 of an ounce, because the lakes I fish are shallow, 18 feet at the deepest and most of the "deep" water is 10 - 12 feet. If I was fishing around 20 feet I would go with the traditional 1/2 ounce or bigger weight. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 7, 2011 Global Moderator Posted August 7, 2011 They're one of my go to baits on a shakeyhead too. They glide and settle really well on a shakeyhead and are a very subtle action but still a little bigger profile than a small finesse worm. Even in your 10-12 foot spots I'd be using a 1/2oz weight to help keep contact with the bottom and get an idea of what is down there. I drag my C-rig slowly to give fish a chance to find the source of the noise they're hearing and to help me feel what the bottom is like. I've found some pretty good brushpiles and rockpiles C-rigging. Quote
Primus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Stick a nail weight in the tail, rig it on it's side. When you lift it will fall back to the bass that's following your bait, fish on! Quote
Five-Alive Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I fish them on the Carolina Rig, shakey head and texas rigged with a 1/16 or 1/8 ounce bullet weight. Quote
