Just placed my order on TW for a Savvy 743c. I was originally going to get a DX744, but I'm 17 and don't need a rod that nice! Need to start saving some money for college (beer :D) so I'm gonna go with Savvy and Champion rods instead.

The 734 will be used for t-rigged Rage Craws, plastics, 3/8 oz. jigs, small swimbaits, etc. Basically my main Rage Tail rod. I'm putting my Zillion 100SHA with 50# braid on her. Next is a new reel for my Champion 735, probably a super Citica 200e with a new Chronarch handle and spool, ABEC 7 bearings, Carbontex drag and polishing, and maybe a little paint job.

I hope so. This will be my combo I bring when I only feel like carrying one rod and a handfull of baits.

Sweet rod that I'm sure you'll love. When I was your age I didn't know the difference between an Ugly Stick and G. Loomis, so I didn't start "spoiling" myself until I got more serious in my 30's. At this rate, in 10 years you'll refuse to touch anything except the highest end tackle!

Wait a sec, you have 4 more years until beer becomes an issue. I know I sure as heck didn't touch a beer my first 3 years of college.

Eh... I'm a beer snob I guess you could say. My parents let me have one a couple times of month. My dad and I try a bunch of different kinds. I like Sam Adams Cream Stout a lot right now.

Guinness is about all I drink, but I may actually give that SA Creamy Stout a shot if I can find some. Wow, I've been used to getting fishing/gear advice from the clan of 17 year olds on here but never thought I'd be getting beer advice from the same crew... what's this world coming to?!!

LOL, I probably shouldn't have just jumped into that post. My dad doesn't let me get hammered all the time. If it's a nice dinner, vacation, etc., it's ok and done responsibly. Kind of a special occasion thing. I think Yeungling tastes like sewer water.

I can't stand Guiness in the States. It tastes so much different than in Ireland; I was ruined for it when we were there. Lately, I've been on an Oatmeal Stout kick.

Hayden, it's understood what you meant. There are still laws in the US that allow a minor of 16 to have an alcoholic beverage with their parents.

Enjoy the new rod, Dobyn's don't suck at all.

That's because you're a rookie :)

Come to grips now that you're going to drink complete swill during college because that's what you're supposed to do. Either that, or your friends will steal all the good beer you pay for and repay you in swill. It's part of the invaluable learning experience that college affords.

A nice stout or hoppy IPA is great, but drinking more than one of those more intense, filling beers can be a chore. That's where Yuengling comes in.

In conclusion, Abu Garcia Revos are clearly superior to Curados. :P

The cheap beer I like is Miller High Life. I'm kind of a Sam Adams guy, I like the Boston Lager and Summer Ale as well as the Boston Ale.

The best beer I have ever had is Warsteiner straight from Germany. It was so superior to any American beer I have had that I would pay 3x as much for it if I had the money.

I think this is the biggest "thread drift" I have ever seen, LOL.

I'll start a beer thread in Everything Else.

That thread is going to blow up!

I mean, what are you going to use your new Dobyns for?

Call me jealous...... I would have never dreamed of a stick like that pre college, hope it lands you some big ones.

Secondly..... Sam Adams? While I love Sam now, in college there was one brand of beer I would drink before all others.......

FREE

After that, we were a Milwaukee's Best (AKA the Beast) kinda crew. It was next to free in the price scale.

Got it today...wow. Perfect action for my Rage Tail fishing and the sensitivity is very much on par with my Champion.

Summer Ale is very good. I definitely like the citrus and lemon zest. Not much of a Curado guy, had an e7 for a whike and it was just "eh". Got a Zillion and was like "holy s***".
