I caught a 4lb bass a week ago and it looks healthy other than the red on the fins and tail. What would cause that?

Low oxygen, high ammonia, or nesting activity can cause red fins. The first two items are common maladies when carried in a livewell.

+1 and bacteria from loss of slim coat swimming in livewells not treated with Catch & Release.

I recently caught one with red fins, the fish ended up dying on me, so it would make since that the fish was already unhealthy, tho she looked perfectly fine other than the fact she was dead.
