airborne_angler Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Watched a Youtube video the other day, where the guy said he would wear the fish out on a devils horse. I know this is an older bait, can anyone tell me what about a Devils Horse is so darn enticing to the fish. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 1, 2009 Super User Posted July 1, 2009 It's a subtle double prop bait. It works really great in calm water on cloudy days or water with a teeny bit of chop. Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I don't know why the fish like these, but it is the first topwater i have ever used. When I was 5, now I am 30 and it is still my favorite topwater bait. Quote
Super User CWB Posted July 1, 2009 Super User Posted July 1, 2009 That and if you can still find them, a Cordell 2 prop Crazy Shad, are my fav. prop baits. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted July 1, 2009 Super User Posted July 1, 2009 You can stll buy them. Bass Pro, Gander has them for sure! Quote
detroit1 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I never had a D/H, but had a Shakespeare wooden copy back in the 70's. It worked okay until we got a new neighbor a couple of houses down that used to live in KY., and he turned me on to a stubby little dual prop called a Skipjack. (anyone know if they are still available?) I rarely use topwaters anymore, and when i do they don't have props. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 they just work, flat out..... i still use my devils horse, and it still produces................................dont mess with the classics ;D Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 2, 2009 Super User Posted July 2, 2009 I still have a few from 25 or so years ago. Caught a lot of bass on them. I reversed the pitch on one of the props so they would rotate in opposite directions (made a bigger splash that way) Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Don't know why but the fish love em! I don't use or like them at all! But they catch fish consistently. Quote
hercdoc Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 If you like the Devil Horse then give Bagley's Twin Spin Bang-O-Lure a try. I like the props on this lure better...they seem to drive the fish crazy down here. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 3, 2009 Super User Posted July 3, 2009 I love the crazy shad from Cotton Cordell. Best little prop there is. Quote
Lipped M Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Great bait, like chucking these at dusk and through the night. Quote
jdw174 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 While I seldom use the old DH in calm water, when there's a wicked chop and I want to fish topwater it's the first lure I'll tie on. I work it fairly fast with sharp jerks to make the water fly. Works great that way. Quote
Primus Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I've done well in rainy conditions & slightly choppy water with the Shimano Triple Impact, a unique lure that's fun to fish because you can slow wake it too. I just picked up 2 of Brian's Crankbaits Prop Bee 2, other than a couple of cast to see what it looks like in the water I haven't had a chance to fish it yet. If you go to his website check out the Cricket finishes which are very detailed paint jobs, I chose one of them in the Shellcracker color. Quote
wvbucketmouth Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Just found this one at a yard sale for a cool .25 cents ;D Hope to test it out very soon! Quote
