Super User clayton86 Posted August 4, 2011 Super User Posted August 4, 2011 What's the best flouro out there right now I'm throwing vanish but its time to respool I cut and retied like 20yds last night ontop of how much was missing from other times. I haven't had a prob with vanish but everyone says there's better so I wanna go better. Now I don't wanna break the bank but what's a good line for under $20 I use it for jigging and texas rigging rage products. How's the pline line up or yozuri has been brought up a lot. So I'm open to sugestions Quote
Fat-G Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Save up a little bit and be REAL good to your wife, and get a spool of Sunline Super FC Sniper. It is excellent line with little memory. Quote
midnighthrasher Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Seaguar is the best that i have found. I use Invisx for leaders and Tatsu for drop shotting. Great line Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 4, 2011 Super User Posted August 4, 2011 In lighter lines on spinning gear, I use InvisX, 4-8#. For heavier lines on casting gear, I prefer XPS Fluoro, Trilene 100% Fluoro, and Sunline Shooter, 10-25#. In all cases, line MUST be treated with KVD Line & Lure. Quote
endless Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 XPS might be the best in your range, that or maybe try Seaguar red label http://www.basspro.com/Seaguar-Red-Label&153;-Fluorocarbon-Fishing-Line/product/104164/-1557328 It has decent reviews. I know nothing about it just it listed at $12.99 for 10# Maybe ask around?? The rest most likely be in the $20 or over range depending on what pd test besides the likes of Vanish, Triple fish, Viscous. I do use XPS onmy casting gear which I like. So far that all I used. I did tried a few other on my spinning gear like Suffix, XPS CarbonGold, Trilene, Seaguar Carbon Pro(no longer I think) all in 10# and I like Suffix out of them on my spinning gear. I don't recall Suffix causing me any problems but finding out now 10# is too much for spinning gear which would be my fault on the rest I tried. Trilene I have a hard time with the knots Which I think someone mention before about the knots. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 4, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 4, 2011 I throw #17 now I may bump down to 15 at the min I'll have to look at the xps stuff Quote
endless Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I throw #17 now I may bump down to 15 at the min I'll have to look at the xps stuff From what I seen there's no #15 in XPS at least at the store. I use the #14 in XPS it's .013 diameter. #12 is .012. Quote
northern basser Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 X-2 X3 on the invisX. I'd like to try tatsu, but can't justify paying that much. Quote
breezy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I have used the BPS XPS fluoro for heavier lines (12#+) and have been happy with it. Picked up a spool of Sunline Super Fluoro (~$16) a month or two ago and have since bought at least 3-4 more spools. It's priced similar to XPS and I prefer the Sunline. Line seems to be more dense/less stretch but pretty stiff..not a problem on casting reels though. For heavy line, bottom contact baits, etc I find InvizX to have too much stretch for my tastes. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 4, 2011 Super User Posted August 4, 2011 InvizX or AbrazX. Or a compromise of the two in XPS. 15 # is a choice line size for me. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Trilene 100% or invisx. Gotta 2nd the KVD l&l Quote
APK62 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 How would you compare Invix vs 100 % Trilene? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 5, 2011 Super User Posted August 5, 2011 Trilene in 6 and 8 was like wire leader, flew off the spool, slapped the blank on the cast. In heavier diameters, it's fine on casting gear. Invisx on the other hand, is limp, a bit stretchier, but much more manageable on spinning gear. The Trilene was so not what I expected, I complained, and received a spool of Tracer Braid as a replacement. That line is working fine. Quote
