Really wanting to use my electronics more than I do now and find good ledges and Drop offs. I don't fish water any deeper than 10' but I would really like to start(I know its a little late in the year). Can you post some images of good ledges and drop offs from Downscan or Side Imaging, and explain what the great features are you look for? I know that's alot to ask for, but I dont have the new Depth Finders and Downscan and sidescan graphs. Thanks for any help!

May I suggest you consider doing two things:

1. Go to the Lowrance and Hummingbird web sites and see their images.

2. Go to a BPS, Cabela's, Gander Mountain or other retail outlet that sells the units and view the images and discuss what you are seeing with the sales person.

And you may want to look at YouTube for any information posted on that site.

Just food for thought. :)

This is scanning a creek channel and there is a school of bass under a school of shad on the left side image at the channel ledge. THAT is what I look for. I took this image last week and caught a bunch. I did the same this week and caught 50 more bass than last week. "It's so easy a cave man can do it."

hey wayne that first image you posted. did u pass over it with the sonar first then zig zag around it with the side imaging to locate the rest of the channel?

No, I run the Side Imaging all the time and wasn't searching for the channel. I know the lake bottom very well. I just took that screen shot to demo the shadow created by objects.
