Ok all you Pinnacle owners, what's your favorite rod or reel and why? How long have you had and what do you use it for? Let's hear it!

I think my DeadBolt Classic is a terrific reel. I bought it for $70 in 2003 and its a workhorse and a tank. Its never had an issue just clean it now and then yet the thing still very free and smooth the handle will spin and spin very easily. Ive used most every lure I have with it from little Strike King Bitsy Minnow to SPRO Frog. Just last year used it to catch my PB LMB never worry about the reels performance.

Its worn, scratched, dinged, been dropped over and over, tossed in frustation from lost fish.

Ive left it on top of my car took-off and at about 45mph I heard a noise and looked back and there was the reel and rod scrapping across the pavement but for cosmetic damage the reel still great.

I have the 7' heavy Tournament Class rod I got from Pinnacle last year when they had the drawings here on the board. It's a great rod, well built and extremely light for a 7 footer. They only drawback is I'm not a big fan of the ACS reel seat. Other than that, it's awesome. I would like to try one of their Optimus baitcasters but no one in my area sells them and I'm not big on buying a reel with seeing it first. I may bite the bullet if I can catch one at a good enough price though.

I think this is a big part of the problem with Pinnacle's products. Most of us are familiar with their lower-end offerings, but very few of us have had an opportunity to handle their new higher-end gear. I think it's great that they gave away a bunch of rods so more people would be able to experience them, but word of mouth only gets you so far. There's no substitue for handling a product in person, and unfortunately that's not an option for the majority of us.

I had no problem at all with the Platinum Plus I owned, and would LOVE an opportunity to see how their higher-end reels compare to some of the similarly-priced offerings from the "big three" (Shim, Daiwa, & Abu). The Optimus XT and XLT look positively badass and the Performa XT spinning reels bears a striking resemblance to my beloved Ryobi Zauber.
