gall Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 i just recently got my replacement side palm for my bps carbonlite reel and i put it on and it fits great but the problem im having now is when i go to cast the reel has a high pitched squeel as the bait is being casted out and it is stopping short from the usual distance i usally can put it out a good distance now its maybe going out 20 feet maxium while its doing that it has that high pitched squeel as the its casting which before it was never that loud anyone know what the problem might be? is it the spool or what cauase its my favorite reel but its been non stop problems lately Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 High pitched squealing during cast is typically a bearing. Make sure they are flushed and oiled appropriately. You can also check the spool edges and frame where the spool rides to make sure everything is clean and dry. The centrifugal brake drum should be cleaned with alcohol and can be very lightly oiled with a cotton swab. Quote
gall Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 thanks ill have to go reclean it and oil/lube it if the problem persist any other ideas what it might be? Quote
Packard Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 If oiling it doesn't work my guess would be while you left your sideplate off it got dirt or dust in it. Quote
gall Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 i cleaned it out full yesterday so im gonna head out today and make sure its working if its still having problems i might take it to bps and see what they can do If oiling it doesn't work my guess would be while you left your sideplate off it got dirt or dust in it.
