Motocross Anyone?

Does anybody else ride? After stopping for a few years to play tournament golf, I'm finally riding again! This is my '03 Yamaha YZ250 after riding it a couple weeks ago

I haven't had a bike in a long time, but at one time I had an 84 CR 490 , 82 RM 250 and an 89 CR 125. All two strokes , man would that 490 blow smoke and haul ***. Any how I broke my forearm on the 125 and ended up with two titanium rods holding my arm together. I had the bike for a couple of years after that but never had the balls I once did on it. I still get to motocross nationals at Steel City or Unadilla if I can every year.

I raced the AMA District 3 (Central NY) circuit from '83-'98. It's a great sport with a real family atmosphere. The down side it's not a matter of IF you'll get hurt it's WHEN and HOW BAD. I missed two summers of work with a young family at home and just couldn't risk it any more. A steel plate and misc nuts and bolts in my left leg bring me back to earth whenever I start to miss it.

The 4-stokes were just coming around when I got out. The power out put is more efficient and helps keep the 4 strokes hooked up but nothing is more fun than the violent, pull your arms out the sockets burst of a 2 stroke.

Used to ride a YZ125 when I was little. Never raced, just trail riding. I'm contemplating getting a sport bike now.

I had quite a few bikes between 1963 and 1970, sold my last bike then and haven't been on one since, as I much as loved it, I really don't miss.

I started out with a Yamaha big bear 250cc scambler and some fun with it, but that bike was short lived, in favor of a Bultaco. I never raced but had a lot of fun on trails. Most of my friends were into english bikes so naturally I got a trump( bonneville), then a BSA lightning rocket and ended my english bikes with a Norton matchless, I never really got into Harley's, rode many of them but never bought one. My very last bike was a 1970 Kawi 500, that was a real screamer.

I never had anything I liked better than my Norton.

Rode enduro's late 60's thru early 70's on Hodaka's and Penton. My son just bought a new HD Street Glide with a 103 cubic inch motor. He lets me out on it from time to time.............Al

It has been really cool to see the names of all those old bikes. I saw my first BSA and Hodaka this weekend at a track called Devil's Ridge in Sanford, NC. My dad, cousin, and uncle run a vintage motorcycle restoration/sales business. Not trying to push anything on anybody or sell anything, and I definitely don't want to offend any mods. I always liked how Hodaka named their bikes. Like "Dirt Squirt" and "Combat Wombat"

I raced 11 years. Yamaha, Husqvarna, Suzuki and Honda, all 250 class. I was fortunate enough to see Roger DeCoster race twice. Broke my back in 74' and quit racing in 83. They were great times.
