vaparrothead Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I'm seriously thinking of buying a Hobie but would like to hear from any owners out there both good and bad reviews. Probably going for the 10 foot (can't remember the model name) the 12 foot fishing machine is just too big (I think). This would be my first Kayak; I know they're expensive for a Kayak. I've heard some folks say they may not be as stable as advertised. Any reviews would be helpful, thanks, Quote
NateFollmer Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I know a guide up in North East Pa that uses them. They seem to be pretty happy with them. I've never been on one myself though. The best advice I can give you is try out as many kayaks as you can before you make a decision. Find a local kayak shop in your area and see when they are having a demo day or something similar. You'll find people that love and hate each brand, so the only real feedback you can use is your own personal experiences with a brand. I've been on Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayaks and NuCanoes (Currently own a NuCanoe). All are great boats. If it were me, I'd get the longest boat I could afford and easily move around. 10 ft. might be a little too small depending on what size you are. 12' seems to be the 'sweet spot' for fishing kayaks IMO.
