I'm very much looking forward to the ride. I am definitely interested in the Club too, so yes- it will be a great opportunity to get some more info. Now that I have the boat situation figured out, time to go through the tackle and decide what i'm bringing! Quote
basser89 Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 slaynbass, I am 220 pounds and I fish out of his boat. Can we get an idea of who is coming and if you have a boat? I personally have lost track at this point. this is what I know so far (if you need to add your name copy/paste this list into your post and add your name to the end so we have a running list) brianinmd hellbenderman slaynbass365 wv lee.md Brian, Here's the last list that I had posted. BrianinMD (boat) KenLattimore dcfpipeman (boat Munkin (boat) Slaynbass365 Fat Boy (+1) WV (and son) Lee.MD - Hellbenderman (boat) As Brian mentioned, please reply to confirm you're still going to attend. Non-boaters. If you have two boats and two non-boaters...we can fish from shore and you 4 can pair up in the boats. Quote
Hellbenderman Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Just let me know what you want me to do. It's better old people don't think for themselves...hehehe. Quote

If you have two boats and two non-boaters...we can fish from shore and you 4 can pair up in the boats. If nothing else, they do rent boats there. It's like $7 for 2 hours, and they have a cheaper option for longer times. Theyre essentially just aluminum john-boats set up row-boat style but they'll get you of the shore! Quote
slaynbass365 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Who needs a ride? Does Lee.md have a boat? If not, I think him, WV and his son are all looking for a boat. If nothing else, Lee can jump in your boat and I'll put WV and his son in one of the rentals to get them off shore a little and still keep them fishing together. I also think we are still waiting on confirmation from Lee on whether he will be attending or going to OC lol Quote
JigMe Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 sorry for the late replay, I am actually going to OC tomorrow and going off shore with my wife and kids. Quote
Hellbenderman Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I will be happy to take someone, but I need to talk to them before hand. A word of warning, I fish naked and it's not a pretty sight. Quote

LOL I think wv and his son are the only two looking for a ride now. As i've said before, I will put them in a rental boat if nothing else so they can fish together. If anyone has a spare trolling motor we can strap it to the rental and they'll be golden! I'm really looking forward to sunday, meeting you all and getting to ride along with Brian and get to know him and more about his club! Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted October 13, 2011 Super User Posted October 13, 2011 Don't get to excited about riding with me, will be the first time I will be running the front of a boat. I am making no promises on my ability to position and control it right.... Planned to take it out Saturday to the lower Potomac with the guy I bought it from but with the winds they are calling for figured it wouldn't be a good idea. Quote

HAHA im not worried about it, im sure it'll be fine. I've been in all sorts of boats and canoes on lakes and rivers so i've experienced all sorts of control issues lol. I'm more looking forward to the company and learning more about the club since it is very local for me. Quote
wv Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Thanks for the offer of the rental. We mostly fish from shore and are comfortable with it. If it works out and there is an open boat then we can go from there. I'm guessing if there is only 4/5 of us...no need to bring any food, etc except what you want your self. It will be nice to meet some people that enjoy fishing and know more about it than we do. We've never been to Black Hills and have no expectations of catching fish since that is what we mostly do anyways. We've met some people here and there and have always enjoyed talking with them and exchanging info, etc. I just hope all this rain, etc. doesn't mess things up this weekend. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted October 14, 2011 Super User Posted October 14, 2011 I wish we would have a day or two of stable weather before fishing here but it won't be to bad. The hardest time to fish BH is when the water surface is glass like, we will have a breeze so it should be fine. Hopefully we can get everyone in boats, just not sure how many people and boats we will have. I will try to get there a little early, will be the first time I have to go pick up my boat and be somewhere so hopefully will go okay. Quote
basser89 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 I just hope all this rain, etc. doesn't mess things up this weekend. I popped over to check out the lake this morning before rolling in to work. Looks like the lake is back up a foot or two after it finally made it back to "normal pool" just the other day. The water color wasn't bad but the section I checked out is back away from any of the creeks that come in to the lake. I bet the backwash area is chocolate milk after the pounding we took last evening. I'd expect the stick ups area will get that color soon, if its not already, and that's a shame cause that's a fun area to fish IMO. Good luck with the fishing sunday but most important, have fun getting to meet each other! Quote
wv Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I'm gonna get home tomorrow around 5:00PM after working two straight 6-day/50 hour work weeks. My concern now is the rain and what it might do to the get-together. We're looking at getting up at 6:00AM to make about a 60 mile drive. Could somebody give me a heads-up on what they think it will be like Sunday? I'm gonna decide on making the trip about 6:00PM Saturday. Thanks for any help. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted October 14, 2011 Super User Posted October 14, 2011 I will stop by tomorrow afternoon to take a look at the lake, will let everyone know. Benefit of only living 12 minutes away... Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted October 14, 2011 Super User Posted October 14, 2011 but I can catch fish there Quote
basser89 Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 but I can catch fish there Seems to me I showed you that I can too a while back or did you forget about that evening? Don't you still have the pic you took of me holding that one? :D :D Quote
Hellbenderman Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 The weather for Sunday looks great. If the lake hasn't turned over yet, I expect both of you to match my 20lb bag...hehehe...water will be fine? Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hey All, Just woke up from a 2 month nap of no fishing, boating, etc... big blank! Caught this thread.. So Sunday at 9am? I will do my best to be there..if I do, I will bring my new to me used boat. My 8yr may come? dying to go fishing.. Do we have a food list or just BYO-Everything.. Hope everyone had a good summer.. -Peter Quote
slaynbass365 Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 The weather for sunday looks perfect, 69 Degrees and sunny. Probably a slight breeze, gonna be nice. In response to the previous post, It is BYO stuff. I'll probably pack a few bottles of water and a sandwich. No idea how long we will be there but I think that should suffice. Quote
