Super User BrianinMD Posted October 15, 2011 Super User Posted October 15, 2011 Stopped by the ramp, water is at spring levels about 1 to 1.5 feet below the top of the docks. This is not bad at all, the water at the water was cloudy though. Shouldn't be an issue, may actually help since the bass won't be as skittish as normal. Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I'm in! Got the boat batteries on charger - x-fingers I may have an extra seat if my 8yr daughter doesn't come. She really wants to go but leaving at 7:30am always throws in the "maybe".... Are we meeting at 9am in a certain spot? Im coming with a Tracker Bass Boat hooked up to a Black Honda Ridgeline. Guarentee that there isn't another clone... Btw- first time putting this boat in at Black Hills.. Anything I need to know? Do? Be careful of? -Peter Quote
Hellbenderman Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Hello dcfdpipeman, At the ramp. Pay your ramp fee next to the bulletin board. Make sure you have all your safety stuff. They will stop and inspect. Is anyone going with me? My wife may show up about 2-3 for a cruise and fish. Due to conditions, and I am sorry to disappoint, but I will not be fishing naked tomorrow. Fat Boy Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Hi everyone. Sorry but I can't make it after all tomorrow. My daughters college fast pitch team is having a tournament tomorrow, and this will be her first time pitching in a game since she had back surgery. It was cancelled from 10/2 and rescheduled for this weekend. I didn't know until Thursday. I hope y'all tear them up though, catch a few for me. If we have another GTG, I'd love to meet y'all. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted October 15, 2011 Super User Posted October 15, 2011 dcfdpipeman, there is not a lot of hazards at BH, going on trolling motor only helps that, only thing around is sunken wood. Otherwise, as hellbenderman said make sure to have all of your safety stuff since there is a good chance you will be checked. I will try to be there a little early, will go ahead and put in and just goof around the ramp area until others show. If you see a black Nissan Titan and a red Ranger trailer/boat that is Nick and me. One thing I forgot to mention earlier, when I was there today around 10am there was 0 boats on the water. Can't remember the last time there were no boats there on a saturday. Quote
wv Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Just got home from work. 10 hour day and ended a 52 hour week now. Kinda tired now and my wife tells me my son has gone to stay over-night with a friend. Not real interested in making the trip by nyself. I do appreciate all the offers of the boats, etc. I'm gonna pass this time and will make the spring get-together. I have Brian's number and he has mine. I hardly ever turn my phone on but will check text messages. My name is Jerry and my son's name is Dean. Hopefully we can meet up with everyone later on this year or next spring. We would like to try the Dickerson warm-water thing and maybe some will be there this winter. Hope you all catch some fish and have a great time. Once again thanks for the offers. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted October 17, 2011 Super User Posted October 17, 2011 Just a couple of pics from the get together yesterday, was fun meeting a few guys. Enjoyed a day on the water with slaynbass365, bites were hard to come by but we managed a few fish. Quote
basser89 Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Nice! Glad you guys managed to get some action! Really wish I could have stayed to wet some line with you guys but I'm glad I was able to make it over to say "hey". Quote
slaynbass365 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 It was nice to meet the few that showed up. Thanks to Brian for having me on his big beautiful boat and showing me parts of the lake I've never had the endurance to find by kayak or canoe. Hope there is a better turn-out in the spring, but if anyone wants to get out before then- I am always looking for a boat to hop into Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Nice meeting everyone... I was following Brian around and of course so as I depart, he/nick hit some fish.. my luck! Need to get more time on this lake.. fish looked like they were hanging out at 20ft or so. Very cloudy water with all the rain. Im told it's usually crystal clear.. Definetly going to spend more time here since it's 20min away. mick, did you get and boat shots of us? maybe post them if so? -Peter Quote
Hellbenderman Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 It was nice to meet Mick and Peter. Glad they showed up! Sorry the conditions were not great, but I finally found them holding tight to standing timber, and had a good day when all was said and done. Brian got to break the ice in his new boat! Let's get organized and do this again in the spring. Quote
tate Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Good to see you guys pulled this together. We've have a good group going in Eastern Ma. and have had 3 get together's this year. They have all been fun fishing different lakes and exchanging information and knowledge as well as the camaraderie of our shared interest of chasing bass around the lakes. - tate Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 uuhhh NICK! OK, you got me.. I thought it was Nick. then i see mick... I wished we used real names.. I can't keep track of forum names to real names... Quote
slaynbass365 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 OK, you got me.. I thought it was Nick. then i see mick... I wished we used real names.. I can't keep track of forum names to real names... hahaha yeah, its Nick. I noticed you're in frederick. I think I remember you saying that was your first time there? If you wanna explore that lake a little more, let me know. I'd be glad to show you the spots i've come across on the other side. I've never really fished the ramp side, but I know theres some good fishing on the other side of the lake if you and your batteries are up for it lol. Quote
KenLattimore Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Glad to see everyone had a good time. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next get together. Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I thought it was Nick.. Chris you got me on that one. Yep, Im up in Frederick... first time on that boat too! If you look in the MD who's thread, I had another boat destroyed by a tornado. Got this one in August but didn't have a spare moment to go out.. I am testing out the batteries. Fact, I am going to install a battery gauge on the trolling motors. I hate the "I wonder if"... Im heading out Sunday again. My daughter (8yrs) was pretty upset she didn't go last weekend. So I'll be putting around for a few hours looking for anything that will bite, for her. Maybe hook up again? Im sure brian wants more boat time too! -Peter Quote

If anyone else is taking their boat out on sunday, i'll gladly join (Brian, Chris, etc). If not there's plenty of other weekends, just gotta be okay with a little chilly weather lol. Supposed to be 60ish degrees but other than that- should be good. Quote
wv Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Good to see you all had a good time meeting up this past weekend. Hopefully things will be better if another meeting happens in the spring. I was pretty tired, it was kind of a long trip, my son's an only child and doesn't have too many "real" friends and I didn't have the heart to go and get him when he was going to spend the night at a friend's house and I didn't really want to go by myself. Once again thanks for all the offers of a boat ride. My son can't tie a knot and if we fished separately somebody would have had to help him and that wouldn't have been right for them to have to watch out for him and not fish. If we were together I can watch out for him...I'm used to tying knots, etc for him. That was a reson to meet some people to help us learn some about fishing and how to be better fishermen. Thanks again and sorry we missed it. Quote
slaynbass365 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Peter, Are you still planning on heading out there tomorrow (sunday)? I went out the morning after the rain stopped this past week and the water was VERY cloudy. Managed a few in the overflow side pond thing that you pass by as you come to the ramp. Went back this morning and the water is CLEAR. At around 8am the water was very flat, around 12 when i left there was a little more movement on the water but it was definitely a good day to be out on a boat. If you go out tomorrow, I hope its the same. I should be there fishing around the ramp at some point tomorrow morning. Quote
dcfdpipeman Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Nick, I'll be there but it is a daddy/daughter day... that could last a few hours or a few minutes depending on the mood. She was pretty upset at not going last weekend.. So she waited all week to go sunday. We can hook up another day. -Peter Quote

Was just curious if you were going to be around there so I could keep an eye out to say hello. Also wanted to tell you the fishing should be good if the conditions are similar to today's. Quote
