I Am Clue-Less

I am going to fish a local river tomorrow and I am very unfamiliar with it. there are no weeds to speak of, and the deepest section is about 20 feet. I was thinking about fishing a black/blue jig with a Rage Tail Chunk as a trailer, I also was going to fish a JuneBug colored Zoom Finesse worm, a buzzbait, and my Rapala Original Floater....I am new to the sport so does this sound ok??

Try a tube as well they work great for me in the river for smallies

The lures seem to all make sense for a river. With that being said, unless you know specific spots to fish, it may be slow going to start searching with those baits. I would start with the buzzbait or a crankbait. Of course if it is a pool/riffle river, something smaller that isn't controlled by a dam, it is easier to find the "spots". If there are riffles try running a buzzbait through the deeper slower parts of the riffle. It is hard to say without more details of the water. Also, I would try a zara spook if the buzzbait does not get bit.

It might help to know the clarity of the river. Perhaps something flashier would work for locating fish. Keep in mind depth changes for inside bends and outside bends. Outside bends should be deeper and those overhangs will be more appealing in warmer water. Just a thought.

I always start with a spinnerbait and a rage craw pegged with a 1/8 bullet weight. This way i can cover water with the spinnerbait and flip specific areas with the craw.

Once you figure out if they want it slow or fast then expand in that direction. If they want it fast then i move to jerkbaits or crankbaits. If they want it slow then i go to a tube and a senko.
