crankbait2009 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Has anyone ever referred to the fishing forecast on weather.com? Would anyone know if that forecast is based off of temperature that day and/or what phase the moon is in? If no one knows what I'm talking about, here's the link. http://www.weather.com/activities/recreation/outdoors/fishing/ if you click on it, it will bring you to a page with a dude standing in a canoe, fishing. enter in your zip code and it will tell you the fishing forecast for the present day. Just wondering what factors in to that chart Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 31, 2011 Super User Posted July 31, 2011 If you notice under the forecast it says, "Data provided by Weather and Wildlife." I don't know if you'll get much information there because they're looking to sell their forecasts. http://www.weatherandwildlife.com/ Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 31, 2011 Super User Posted July 31, 2011 Last time I paid attention to the weather forecast I got roasted ( clear bluebird skies, blazing sun and sorching heat ), sweat my rear end off with 100 degrees temps and fished the glass, the forecast was cloudy, 90% probability of rain, temps in the 80´s and slight wind. Needless to say I no longer pay attention to weather forecasts. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 1, 2011 Super User Posted August 1, 2011 Interesting post about the weather. Too many variables to place your bet on only the weather conditions. I constantly view and listen to the weather reports on TV and radio plus go to Weather Underground and Rx Risk for my weather reports. And it really does not matter what the weather will be as all we can do is adapt and try our luck fishing. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 1, 2011 Super User Posted August 1, 2011 For being a science that is not exact because there are so many variables constantly changing I think weather forecasting is pretty good. I don't waste my time with fishing forecasts. Quote
Shad_Master Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I used to always check the wind forcast before a fishing trip by going to the hour-by-hour option. A few weeks ago, the forcest for wind was between 4 & 8 MPH from sunrise to noon - at 4:00 AM, the wind was in the range of 25 to 30 mph and went up from there. You really can't depend on what's going to happen - that's like th old adage, "don't throw what they bit on yesterday - throw what they're biting on today". Quote

Just wondering what factors in to that chart CB2k9 Forecasts are forecasts, nothing more. Most are based on solar lunar patters. Some try to factor in local weather. I subscribed to "Wather Wild life" for a year awhile back. Did it help my final results? No. Did I fish the peak times? Yes. Do these Forecasts work? Well, if you swing at the ball enough times, you will eventually get a hit. Quote
