Hey everyone I just wondering if anyone who has a Lew's rod or reel could give me the pros and cons about it or them!! Thanks!

I have a speed spool reel so that all I can comment on. It is a really nice reel for under $100. It might even be the best one you can get for under $100.

I have a Speed spool and it is great ! Very small and light but if I had it to do again I'd just get the TP to start with .

I purchased 2 Tournament Pros at the beginning of my tournament season (March). I like them so much that I have since sold two of my Chronarch 50mgs. I plan on posting my experience with them at the end of the season (1 week of October). If I had to give an apinion right now, I'd say don't hesitate buying a TP. I haven't tried the other Lews models but the TP has done me very good.

Okayy thanks everyone! Does anybody know about their rods?? They dont even offer a cranking rod series which kind of surprises me! Does anyone use one of their rods for cranking?

I have 3 Tournament Pros and 2 Speed Spools. I like them all a ton. Very compact frame, lots of features for the money. The Speed Spool is the best reel out there for under $100. Nothing even comes close. Blows the Citica away that everyone seems to want to recommend. Lews is the real deal. Oh and I wasnt sure if I would like those big paddle handles, I love them too! The 2 non-Lews casting reels I have left just dont feel quite right anymore without them.

I bought a Tournament Pro a few months ago. This thing is a casting freak! The first time I used it I had to be careful because I was actually overshooting my targets. I've used baits down to 3/16oz with no problems. It's profile is very small and easy to palm. The flat paddle grips and very comfortable. I've read where some people don't like the braking system because it only has 4 centrifugal brakes but it's no big deal because I only set two on anyway. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

I have a Tournament Pro also. It doesn't take a back seat to any reel in its price class. I would say it is every bit the reel the Revo Premier is from a performance standpoint. Great reel.

IMO, there is no reel under 200 dollars that compares to the Lews TP.

I have yet to handle a new Lews speed stick. I have three 1979 glass pistol grip rods and four 1988 graphite models but that's a bit dated I would think. The reels are excellent. I have 2 Tournament Pros and two Tournament series. They both perform exceptionally well. BB is not overstating these reels one bit. The jury is still out on the sticks, or has there been a trial yet ?

IMO, there is no reel under 200 dollars that compares to the Lews TP.

As far as casting distance, the Okuma Serrano is close but the TP has the edge.

Well thanks for all the reviews guys. I think youve made my decision a lot easier. Still dont know about that crankbait rod though, but we will figure something out!

I switched from all Revo Premiers and STX's to Lew's Tournament Pro's back in March and have no regrets. If you look in the right places you can find the Tournament Pro's for about $150 shipped. I dont know of another $150 - $180 dollar reel that is comparable to the Lew's TP. I'm glad I decided to try them.

I got to try my new TP reel Yesterday for the first tine and it's great & has some nice features but the regular speed spool is all the reel you need and 1/2 price. By all means if you have the cash get the TP but if not the Speed Spool is still awesome.

Don't know if you bought a crankin' rod yet but I use a St Croix Avid MHM 6'6" cranking rod. I think the Avid series of crankbait rods are some of the best out there. I am talking about the graphite series, not the glass rods. Check them out.

BTW, I owned a Team Lews reel and it was awesome. Only reason I sold it was to buy a Pflueger Patriarch XT to match up with my Dobyns Champion rod. ( I regret selling it) I just bought a Lews TP 7.1 and have yet to use it. The Lews, Pflueger and Abu Revo reels are all built by Pure Fishing (AKA Abu Garcia) in Korea. I believe the Quantum Smoke is also made there, but don't know for sure.
