I have been thinking about a dx744c for some time now, and just wondering if i am going to feel a big differance in sensitivity over my 704 and 705 champions . I plan on using this rod for texas rigs and jigs. the rod will be paired with a chronarch 51mg and braid and will be fished in 8' of water or less. If anyone has tried both please share your thoughts. thank's

Just picked up the 744 havent used it yet. They are on sale on cabelas website for $229.99 if that would have any influence on your decision. A few of the champions are on sale too. Just not sure which model

AHH, you got my hopes up! The only one that is available is the 742. I'm looking for the 795. Thx anyway for the info.

I have both Champions and Extremes, including the 744. I use them both for bottom contact presentations, side by side. Personally, I don't quite think the Extremes are worth the extra $100+, but it's close. In other words, they are not 1.5x as good as the Champions, though they cost 1.5x as much. I would prefer 3 Champions over 2 Extremes.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the Extremes(744C and 792S in particular), but I love the Champions. They are a terrific value at that price point, and I appreciate that.

Also just picked up an Extreme from Cabelas' sale, but no reviews yet since I'm still waiting for it. If you're looking at a Cabelas model it's definitely worth the small price increase, but I personally wouldn't have put the extra $100 in without the sale.

They didn't have the 744 available online, but I called the Cabelas in Ft Worth and they had one in stock and sent it to me for that price and did the $5 shipping as well. You could try giving your nearest Cabelas a call and see if they have what you are looking for
