kms399 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Nope, won't until it hits a point that it pulls the line tight. OH ok thanks for clearing that up for me, so what your saying is that when I cast and I am watching my line and it twitches that is definatly not a fish and when I set the hook and reel in a fish it is not because I watched my slack line twitch indicating a bite. thank you for clearing that up for me. Because it's pulled tight, there's enough tension on the line to make the connection. Braid will not twitch at the surface when slack, it's physics, man. Quote
breezy Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I love fishing with braid and have switched to braid on spinning reels almost exclusively. But, its biggest disadvantage is sensitivity while the line is slack. If there is a very small amount of slack I can feel a bite but fluoro transmits it much better. Any situation where there is quite a bit of slack in the line..fluoro provides much better sensitivity, hands down. IMO. Braid is great for some things but I feel like I'm missing too many bites fishing jigs in deep water with long casts due to the bow in the line. Quote
ripinthem Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I love this stuff. It casts so far, that you have to watch the overcast. Caught 13 bass this afternoon on a dropshot, with about an 8 ft splice to 8lb trilene 100%( mainline was 8lb nano). This stuff is so sensitive, it just transmits everything. I felt each fish grab the bait and start to swim. None of the fish hit the bait, it was very subtle, but you knew what was going on. Even when they were coming at me(slack) you still knew it. No stretch in this stuff, like a brick wall at the hookset. For bottom contact, and reaching out there on schooling fish, this is the stuff. Quote

Crowcommander Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I also found that Nanofil will not hold a flour leader with world famous super 8 knot. The instruction in the spool asid use the Albright knot which is less satisfactury in my opinion. But WOW# you can throw a fluke a country mile with it. Its like my moms white sewing thread. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted August 5, 2011 Super User Posted August 5, 2011 NanoFil is VERY difficult to tie knots that don't slip! I've chosen to use a fluoro leader when fishing with NanoFil so I can avoid the terminal knot problem while on the water. I've been using a 5 wrap up and 5 wrap down Alberto knot basted with super glue for a leader knot. I've read of people tying the Alberto knot with the up wraps and down wraps adjacent to each other on the leader... I tie the knot with the down wraps over-lapping the up wraps. The glue adds additional security. I can tie a 6' leader before I leave for the lake and not have to deal with tying any knots with the NanoFil while on the water. oe Quote
