North Ga Hillbilly Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 After hearing some good things about fishing at night with buzz baits I pulled out the ol buzz bait box and got together a few different colors, sizes, and most importantly Ive found, different sounds. A week ago I caught fish A on a white buzz bait around 1:30 AM, beating my earlier best Earlier tonight I caught fish B on a black and blue buzz bait around 9:45 I feel extremely fortunate for the chances to out do my PB in such close order with such good lookin fish If you cant sleep and your close to the water, head down late night with some big Buzz Baits NGaHB 1 Quote
Super User South FLA Posted July 27, 2011 Super User Posted July 27, 2011 Nighttime bass fishing at its best! Did you release both fish? Second one looks DEAD! Try a Spro Popper if the bite is slow on the buzzer and get READY for a HAWG! Quote
SmokeRise1 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I'm guessing that neither one was released as the photos were taken off of the water. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 27, 2011 Super User Posted July 27, 2011 I'm guessing that neither one was released as the photos were taken off of the water. What a shame , some people don't get it. Let the big ones go and eat the smaller ones. Quote
ICU812 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Congrats on your PBs! Yeah I hate to be negative on someone's PB thread but what's up with keeping the fish?? Quote
Super User South FLA Posted July 27, 2011 Super User Posted July 27, 2011 He said he lives right on the water... Makes sense then, I have a canal/lake system in the backyard and have the wife snap pics with furniture in the background, the second fish still looks dead though Quote
hatrix Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I also was gonna say something about the pics not being by the water. Hope they both made it back in time. Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Woah fellas, let's all take a deep breath and ask before we condem. Fish A was caught off a dock and out of the water for less than 2 min total, my girlfriend took the photo. This was at Lake Lanier. Fish B was caught on an ultralight rod with 4 pound test, this resulted in a very long fight which wore her out. I tried to revive her for over 20 min, but she wouldn't go. So as opposed to leaving her to rot I put her on ice and plan to eat her tonight. I hate she didn't make it, but she was the FIRST bass I have EVER kept. NGaHB 1 Quote
brushhoggin Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 sweet man. i wouldnt dream of throwing a buzzbait on 4 lb test and an ultralight. impressive. Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Its all I had in the truck, the average size bass I've got out of this lake is around .5 pounds. Really unusual sized fish Quote

Shane Procell Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Great Fish bro! My largest bass have come on nightime buzzbaits. I read an article, then saw it on ESPN, about a Ga. guy named Pat Cullen. He has caught over 1000 ten pound bass. He said most all of his fishing is at night with a black buzzbait. Quote
Big-O Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 WTG... The night time bite makes a lot of sense with these daytime temperatures! Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 28, 2011 Super User Posted July 28, 2011 Nice fish! Congratulations! Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Thanks for the kind words! I got on during my lunch break and was afraid everyone was thinking I was a fish murdering nazi. I am amazed I'm about to be able to say this, but fish A is now replaced by fish C... Caught an hour ago Cap Shane- Mr. Cullen was featured in Georgia Outdoor News, where he said the same thing you just did. I originally started using them at night, not just dusk and dawn, when I read that. Took a while to find the right blades, size and trailers tho. NGaHB Quote

I'm glad you were able to release the first one. I've never eaten a bass that big. How was it? Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 Never been much for bass, I cleaned her and put her in the freezer. I'll be hosting a BBQ here soon, so I'm going to fire up the fryer then. I did manage to gain some knowledge from seeing inside her. Her stomach was completely empty, where as her GI track was completely full. I'm not sure how long it takes for a bass to digest a stomach full of food, if anyone knows I would be very interested. I assume from this that she had switched to almost entirely eating at night, a piece of information that allows a good pattern to be established. -NGaHB Quote
