I own a couple of thr NRX 893's. I don't know how much they weigh, but they're too light to be heavy.

NRX blows away the Dobyns in terms of sensitivity and feel. It's remarkable. Point of comparison would be NRX853C and 703C. My money would go to the NRX.

At the NRX price point you could get a great custom rod built. Something to consider..

I know some will disagree but I have both a Champion Extreme and a G.Loomis GLX and I think that the GLX feels slightly more sensitive. So I would think the NRX would win in the sensitivity department easily over the Dobyns. But that's just me and how the rods feel in my hands.

The Champion Extreme vs. GLX would be a more appropriate comparison. Those are pretty much equal, IMO. Besides, the NRX are 1.5 times as expensive as the Dobyns DX series.

Ended up picking up my first NRX. :)

Fished it all day today, and to me, it's the best rod I've ever fished, no question. Fished an NRX in short spouts before, but not enough time to conclude anything.

I've fished (but don't own all these, actually don't own too many) high end kislers, Loomis, St. Croix's, Shimano's, and none of these can compare.

GLX was my favourite prior to today. The best way I can describe how the NRX is better, is that the vibrations on the rod feels very tight, more so than the GLX. Not sure if that even makes any sense though, but can't think of any other way to describe the feel of a rod.

Held, but have not fished a Dobyns or a Steez yet though, would love to get my hands on one of those.

I own both a DX701SF and DX702SF, also too light to be heavy. I don't have an exact weight to give you though. Very nice rods for what thats worth.

yea they felt great in the shop. Too bad you can't test drive a rod before you make a decision. But for $320 retail, havn't a picked up a rod in that price range that felt better than a DX701SF.

only reason I'm making a comparison is cuz I keep hearing about guys selling all their looomis rods, after fishing a dobyns. Not sure if it's legit though, can't believe everything you read online.

I could see guys moving to the Dobyns instead of IMX or GL3, for that matter I know of guys that have. Yet, when it comes to the NRX and CE, there's just no real comparison. For me, comparing a CE to the GLX is a stretch. There are guys that will swear by the Dobyns, but I'm not one of them. Don't get me wrong, I think they're a very, very well built rod, and they're definitely worth every penny. Yet, at the same time, the GLX and NRX are lighter and more sensitive, they fit me better- my style of fishing better. You may find that you'd take the Dobyns over the GLX and that's just fine, too; both are super quality rods. As a point of reference, the DX795 is far and away the very best flip stick I've ever handled. It has everything I want in a rod: Extremely powerful butt, a very, very smooth power transition, tremendous lifting strength, a tip that is soft enough to allow you to work a bait effectively without moving it ten inches at a time, and excellent sensitivity for a rod as powerful as it is. I would go so far as to say it's likely one of if not the best flipping sticks ever built. I have a handful of rods that I'm overtly in love with, and the DX795 is one.

Would I sell my NRX, and other, rods and convert to Dobyns? No chance. I'm far too happy with what I have, and don't think I'm fishing solely NRX. I fish everything from St Croix Premier to Loomis, Cumara to Phenix. I'm not a slave to the name on the rod, reels are a different story.. I fish what works for me, regardless of what those around me fish. That would be my suggestion to you, get one in your paws and give it a shot, that's the only way you'll truly learn the differences in them.
