NHfroggin Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Does anyone use frog hooks such as these: http://www.***.com/descpageTRUTERM-TTGHFH.html http://www.***.com/descpage-GDTTH.html Do these types of hooks keep the frogs from rolling? does it improve your hook ups? i will be mostly using these hooks on Rage Tail Toads. Any input would be appreciated -Matt- Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I use a regular Gamakatsu SuperLine hook for Rage Tails. Those are more for hollow body frogs really. I started a similar thread last week with only one members response. Hope you have better luck! Quote
Big-O Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 As the illustration shows, 5/0 EWG superline is a standard for thr Rage Toad. I like Gamakatsu for this style. Hooks that have screw locks and 20 to 30 degree bends that works are 6/0 Owner twistlock, Youvella 6/0 swimbait hook, Sizmic 6/0, HorneyToad 6/0. Hope this helps Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
NHfroggin Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Dink and Big thanks for the replies, i currently use a 5/0 gamakatsu super line hook, just wondering about different hooks for better hook ups. thanks -Matt- Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 30, 2009 Super User Posted June 30, 2009 I stick to the single superline hook. My thoughts are, if a fish hits a frog or toad in more or less open water, you will most likely get the hook in her. If she hits in slop and also gets a mouth full of slop with the bait, down go your odds. I have had more than my share of misses due to this in the slop using Snagproof, Spro type frogs and they all have 2 hooks. But by all means go ahead and try them. I'm not a fan of the screw-in style of hook but alot of others are. I think they tear up the baits nose too quickly. JMHO. Quote
bocabasser Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 i have used those gambler double trouble hooks. you have to bend the tips inward in order to get them to work correctly. too much work for me to fine tune the hook to get it to swim properly. i stick to gama 5/0 ewg. Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 thanks CWB and Boca for your input looks like ill be staying with the 5/0 super line hook. -Matt- Quote
