Hello everyone, long time reader first time poster.was trying to find more places in and around Richmond Virginia to fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you fishing from a boat or the shore? If you fish from the bank, lakes out at Inns Brook would be a good place, all of them have produced decent fish for me. If you have a boat, try Powtan Lakes, or Swift Creek. Check out the Vgif web site. It lists most of the public lakes and ponds.

We have a number of individuals from Richmond on the Forum so please repost your query in the Southeastern Fishing section.

Go to Wal Mart or Tackle Express and secure a copy of the free Freshwater Fishing in Virgnia pamphlet. It has lists of places to fish in the state and it illustrates the local lakes you can fish, including the bodies of water in the greater Richmond area. Check out the lakes in Henrico County.

The ponds at Innsbrook are good places to fish. Check out the one on the north side of Nuckols Road called Lake Rooty. It is the lake by the Go Daddy building. You can walk around the lake and fish it all day long.

Go to Barnes & Noble or Staples and locate a copy of the ADC Mapbook of the Greater Richmond area, including Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield and the City of Richmond. Look for the blue areas and consider fishing those lakes and ponds.

If you are old enough to drive and have your learner's permit or a driver's license you can visit those locations and maybe meet some of the locals.

By the way, please go back to the Introduction section and tell us about you and your fishing history and level. Then ask your questions and you will receive some wonderful answers.

Have fun and be safe. :)
