Have you guys ever heard of a Little Lucy?  I've only seen them sold in Southwest VA, but they could be in stores elsewhere.  I've been using them a lot lately, and think that they're the best over-looked bait for river smallmouths.  I take a lot of younger kids fishing and this is what I always tie on for them.  Much easier to use and harder to hang up than most baits that work well.  While most start beginners out on live bait, I find that that can lead to a large number of gut hooked fish that may or may not survive.  Lately, I've been using the Little Lucy myself and have found that it works on large bass very well, whereas most think it's a lure for small bass and redeyes.  Just a heads up to some of you river guys, do yourself a favor and gives these a shot.  Black is my top producer and at about $1.20 they're easily affordable.

I dated a Lucy some years ago and she wasn't very tall.  :)

In the little sporting goods store in Grundy where I work sometimes there is a whole rack of these in different colors. I thought about getting some and trying them. They seem quite simple and cheap too. How do you hook yours up and fish them???

Looks like a guy could rig something like that up pretty easily, but $15 for a dozen is reasonable enough to buy them instead.  Thanks for sharing.

Having trouble telling much from the tackle.com website...at least on my phone screen.  Looks like a plastic worm....with a hook?

Awesome lure on the French Broad River. Caught trout, rock bass, walleye, and especially smallmouth. Not the only lure I use but definitely a great lure for finicky bites.

PS: not the owner or professional of Taylor Tackle.

A 6" Senko is cheaper. Cut em' in half, finesse some flame to make your bend..20 for $10.....
