Heya guys,

My bro in law and I just started fishing, we took a drive down loxahatchee road for the day to see what we could catch. We don't have a boat so we're stuck fishing from the banks.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to fish from down on lox road? We don't mind walking a few miles west past the few barriers if that's what it takes. We fished from 11:00am till 4:00 without a catch, and didn't see much. Well thanks in advanced for any thoughts/replies.

You would be better off fishing in the residential canals.

Bank fishing at Lox is very limited, however I would fish on either side of the flood control gates. Rattle traps, skinny dippers, big worms, live shiners.

Ahh thanks for the fast reply!!

Yes it seemed that way, I don't know what it's like on a boat out in the everglades, but I can imagine fishing being so much fun out there compared to the banks. Guess we'll be investing in a boat. Thanks for the bait tips too, can't wait to start fishing again.

It can be a lot of fun...........or it can be extremely frustrating. :D

I also have no boat. I was thinking about getting a little johnboat just to fish on in lox. It seems like all the fishing spots off the banks have just been beaten and there is nothing. I use Senkos and top water frogs sometimes. Anyone have any tips?

If you go out there in a small boat, don't play with the gators. Otherwise they may decide to play back.

Worms, frogs, spooks, dippers, traps, etc etc. It's just a matter of finding the fish out there. Once you find them, work over the area.

I've been in that area fishing from shore in peak bass season and really have little to show for it. Try the spillway off Military Trail, you may be surprised on what you hook into.

Thanks for all the replies, I agree it's hard to find spots that aren't already fished up without a boat. I'll check out that spill off military trail.. On Saturday I'm gonna head back out to Lox and walk way west to one of the spillways out that way. Oh and I don't plan on messing with any of the gators, some of the people out there are crazyy, like Capt. Shane. I'll post up if I find any decent spots in Lox from the banks so that the few of us without boats can have some fun too!

I would suggest driving to the Lox entrance in Boynton Beach, between Atlantic Ave and Boynton Beach Blvd. They rent canoes there. If that isn't good, then hit neighborhood lakes or 441 canal because Lox is nearly impossible to fish from the shore.

I have fished the 441 canals quite a bit, not far from my home, and for the most part have done pretty good. IMO this is the worst time of the year for bass from shore, I don't do it until the weather cools down. The old saying, "when the bass turn off, the snook turn on"...........go east young man.

Awesome! I'll keep all that in mind. On a side note, I was invited by a neighbor to come fishing behind her mother's house and it was amazing. It's a decent size lake right off royal palm and rock island rd a little west by the church. We caught some decent bass and a HUGE carp, it was the biggest success I've had yet. The lake is in a neighborhood behind houses, so you kinda gotta live there to fish there, or know someone. TTYL guys!!

Went and hooked up with midnight cur and found an awesome spot in lox just fishing from the bank. Caught three bass and some bad run ins with quite a few gators. We had a blast though for only about 2 hours of fishing! I was just using senkos which worked out awesome, and midnight was using a top water frog. Awesome time. Going back out tommorrow!
