shootermcbob Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 What websites do you guys use to check the weather in your area? I use weather.com, but was wondering if there wasn't something out there that was more local? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted July 22, 2011 Super User Posted July 22, 2011 I use Iwindsurf.com for wind reports before I head out on lake erie. Also use off shore marine forecast & local weather station. Quote

LWD Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 weather.com's map is better than accuweathers map more sophisticated imo Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 23, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 23, 2011 wunderground.com It's often different from weather.com, so I get a better picture of what the weather might do. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 23, 2011 Super User Posted July 23, 2011 wunderground.com weather.com The weatherbug I usually use all three to get a fairly good picture of what the weather is going to be doing. Quote

Super User Catt Posted July 23, 2011 Super User Posted July 23, 2011 I look @ satellite imagery & then go out side Quote
shootermcbob Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 that sounds like really good advice Catt. the lake where I normally fish is about 20 miles away, and for whatever reason, seems to have different weather pattern than where I live. Often times it is raining/storming there, and bright and sunny here. Thanks to all who answered. I have bookmarked several of these sites and will most likely use the "look at several of them and take the average" approach. BTW, rain doesn't bother me, but lightning does. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted July 23, 2011 Super User Posted July 23, 2011 When I used to bluewater fish offshore, an EPIRB unit and WX Station.were part of my permanent boat gear The WX Receiver is a little single-band radio that's tuned to NOAA Weather. Marine forecasts are broadcast 24 / 7, which is toggled On & Off by a press-bar. In landlocked waters though, I'll use whatever household device happens to be in front of me, the PC or the TV: COMPUTER AccuWeather http://www.accuweath...ast-details.asp The Weather Channel http://www.weather.c...her/today/33898 Weather Bug http://weather.weath...z6286&zip=33898 TELEVISION (central FL): Channel 63 ……."The Weather Channel" - Doppler radar (Local On The 8s) Channel 9 ………“Bay News 9” - Klystron radar Channel 629 ……“AccuWeather" Unfortunataly, no weather station can boast reliable accuracy. I normally take a consensus of several forecasts, but still watch the sky all day. Roger Quote
BIGfryFish Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 weather.com (The Weather Channel) I also check my local ABC, NBC, CBS affiliate websites. Quote
Super User webertime Posted July 25, 2011 Super User Posted July 25, 2011 Wunderground and Windguru (similar to what Dwight posted). Quote
McBee Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I use the weatherchannel app on my phone. I also look at the almanac for info on the best fishing days and times. To me it seems accurate most of the time. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 25, 2011 Super User Posted July 25, 2011 Weather bug on my phone Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 26, 2011 Super User Posted July 26, 2011 Checking the weather is the first thing I do each morning before heading out. My first stop is always the ocean or ICW so the marine forecast gets special attention. I need tide information, swell direction, wind direction and velocity, how I determine what species I'm targeting along with the location I'm headed for and the tackle I'm taking with me. I may check a forum or online reports to see what's happening where. I never decide yesterday where I'm fishing today. It's 3:15 am and I'm leaving very soon to go fishing, still haven't decided where I'm going. Quote
