Super User J Francho Posted July 22, 2011 Super User Posted July 22, 2011 Enthusiasm & confidence Do you Texas or Wacky rig those? It's hard to see the pack, but I use this little trout fishing pack. I carry some hooks, sinkers, a couple bags of plastics, and some jigs. What ever I feel like using that day. Also a scale, tape measure, and pocket camera. Keep it simple, and mobile. Quote
brushhoggin Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 when i'm hiking around a lake or pond, i carry a small bag like Francho, with one lure for each of the water columns so i can catch em once i find out how they're biting. people say you wanna take everything you own so you can fine tune what's needed according to how the bass are behaving any given day, but in my experience with fishing private lakes and ponds from the bank, if they're not biting my brush hog or buzzbait within the first hour, it's not lookin good for the day. Super User islandbass Posted July 22, 2011 Super User Posted July 22, 2011 As you gain experience, you will come to learn which lures, types and colors work best for your waters if you are observant enough. I too am a shorebound angler and can fit everything I need (because I know they are the most effective) in a small BASS bag. The rest in unnecessary fluff. Also, I keep different "Sets" so I can change up on the fly and bring only what I think will work for that outing. Same bag, just different groups of things. Keeping it simple for the shorebound will help from keeping your load from being cumbersome. I also like to carry 2-3 rods and you can devise a contraption that will enable you to not only carry them in one hand but also keep them off the ground. Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted July 23, 2011 Super User Posted July 23, 2011 "What do I carry"? A Ruger SP-101, tucked IWB holster. For fishing, it would depend on what I was going after and what body of water I'm looking at. There are some great general information topics in the articles posted on the start of the forum. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted July 23, 2011 Super User Posted July 23, 2011 I carry too much....My buddy teases me about it too. 2 rods/reel combos(spinning & baitcaster) a small tackle bag that holds 4 3600 plano boxes consisting of jigs/cranks,jerks,hard baits/soft plastic/hooks & weights. It's also where my pliers, scissors and other crap. Then I carry a backpack also consisting a 3600 box of topwater frogs, lip gripper,a plano bag full of more soft plastic lures, bug spray, hand towel and extra spools with line for my reels. Too much? I know...but It has came in handy once too many times. I rather have it on me than be sorry I left it at home. Quote

I know how you feel, I used to carry everything I own, but now I've knocked it down to carrying two rods usually a reaction setup and a finesse setup, a backpack with a leatherman, a scale, my terminal tackle, soft bait bag, and a few nick knacks. MAD Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I use an old turkey vest that has big pockets that can hold some plano boxes and bags of plastics, and a Glock 26, Mike Quote
