Well it seems now in this job market it's more about who you know, than anything else.

So I'd like to ask anyone in NOVA if they know of any good job opening, where they work, or elsewhere. Im 16 now so I can enter the real world. I'm willing to do anything, and i'm not above sweeping floors.

Thanks guys! Any help is appreciated.

Don't have anything to suggest for specific openings, but want to say keep that attitude of willing to do anything. One of the biggest mistakes I see is people not willing to take a "lower" position then they have in their mind they are qualified for. My best job, the one I am in now, came because I took a position to get into the company and worked my way from there. A good attitude, work ethic, and willingness to actually work will take you a long way.

My donkey needs an enima. Are you willing to insert it? I don't have money to pay you, but can provide you with a plate of beenie and weenies.

Go to your local tackle shop dressed neatly, and talk with the owner. Tell him about you interest in fishing and the outdoors, your willingness to work, and your eagerness to learn. You may be suprised what comes of it. Ask around the worst answer you can possibly get is no. B)

There is a severe lack of tackle shops here :( About zero total.

Also craigslist is your friend. Keep an eye out for opening businesses. Hayden (Fat-G) got his when the new local Texas Roadhouse opened. After putting in an application remember to call up the business, and ask if your application has been viewed. Good luck and don't get frustrated jobs are scarce in these tough economic times.

And don't get hammered at a fishing club and not show up to work the next morning, resulting in getting fired. Back to square one.

Do you intend on furthering your education past high school? If not look into learning a trade. NOVA is sick thick with service jobs. Look at something that may peak your interest and make some inquires with perspective employers!

I worked at a Hardware store in High School and as a college Freshman. The things I learned there about home repair/upkeep, small engine repair, gardening, tools, electrical, etc. have saved me so much money since then it's not even funny. Go into an Ace or some mom and pop hardware store and see if they have an opening. Sure you might sort nails for 8 hours one day, but the next you could be helping a guy with something and just small talking and find he's a fisherman with a hot daughter. Just an idea to look into.

to the OP go to a local hospital if you have one see if they have any jobs as a patient transporter.. It's one of those jobs where you can make an impact on someone who could be having the worst time of their life. Not to mention you do network and create business bonds with other parts of the hospital staff.

A patient being transported by a 16 year old , that would be interesting. :D

I'm not sure but I think he may be referring to the transportation of patients using the wheelchairs and wheeled beds in the hospital, not driving a vehicle. This was one of my jobs while attending college and the position title was transporter. I think a 16 year old could do that job.

If you are serious about getting into this networking thing, then you need to start looking to your parents, relatives, neighbors, or friends of the family. Quite often, a good word put in by one or more of these folks gets your foot in the door the fastest.

Word to the wise though.... If you get a job based on their help, don't foul it up. That's the most assured way of never getting that kind of help ever again.

Well I checked out craigslist and saw the Subway on Quantico MCB had an hourly position available. So I sent them an email to apply. Well I thought they never emailed me back. But today, the 3rd, I checked my junk email and saw they did reply. They wanted to interview me yesterday, the 2nd, at 2 pm. Which I could've done. If I saw the email. Dude that sucks. Moral of story check your junk email. I'm so blown right now - ___________ -

But I sent them an email back, Saying excuse my late reply and explaining the situation, saying i'll be available tomorrow, the 4th after 4 pm.

Wish me luck that she replies guys!
