GAMEOVER Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 After really digging into lipless crankbaits this fall I am very impressed with Yo-Zuri's Rattle N' Vibe cb. I like it so much that I find myself using it over Lucky Crafts LVR series. I planned on purchasing each and every LVR color scheme available as the funds allowed for it but I am seriously thinking about just keeping the LVRs I have now and buying all the Rattle N' Vibe schemes because they work so well. Their loud, have great balance, cost half that of similar baits, and most importantly catch fish! Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I bought these in a kit a while back, didnt think about them too much, maybe ill give them a try now. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 6, 2006 Super User Posted November 6, 2006 I got schooled by a rookie. His catch rate was 3 to1 over my traps. I also give the Yozuri's a thumps up. Not sure of the cheaper cost as compared to traps and other brands. but if the few extra dollars gets me more fish, it is worth it. matt. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 The Yo-Zuri Vibe is my favorite trap to. Other than the Spro aruku shad, these are the only ones I throw. I really like the shad and firetiger patterns. They come with good hooks, the paint never chips, and there super loud. Glad to see someone likes them as much as I do. Quote

Yeah lots of people like the Spro to whats your favorite color scheme of them all Senko(Rattle N' Vibe)? Clear water? Dark water? I bought these in a kit a while back, didnt think about them too much, maybe ill give them a try now. Yes you got to try them bud, I know a few people who absolutely hate liped crankbaits but love the lipless ones. I can see the bait monkey lurking over your shoulder now. I got schooled by a rookie. As Raul stated before, "Its not the wand, its the Magician". I firmly believe in that, maybe he was just a little more expierenced then you with those type of baits or he was using a good pattern while you werent. Those Ratt-L-Traps are or is one of the first lipless crankbaits to hit the market I think. I have one in 1/4 oz (I think) that has caught me only two fish after using it for a whole day in my backyard, but then again thats a small pond. They deffinatly work. The thing im learning about similar baits is they all will work its just that the (not necessarly) better ones make your job easyer. Keep at it buddy, practice makes perfect. Has anyone thrown their "HARDCORE DRUM" lipless cb as well as thrown the Rattle N' Vibe? Im wondering if their DRUM series is worth the five extra bucks if anyone who fished with them both could fill us in. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 my favorite clear water color by yo-zuri is black/silver and my favorite muddy water color is hot tiger. I really dig the hooks on these baits though Quote

I didnt see any info on their site when briefly reading it last night. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 One thing I will sometimes do to improve it just a little more is replace the front treble with a red #4 gammy or owner treble. You will hook alot more fish. If your fishing in really heavy veggies, then replace the front hook with a #1 treble and take off the back hook. I really like red on my baits but thats your choice on whether you think it catches more fish or not Quote
GAMEOVER Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 I have some #4 VMCs and some #6s laying around brand new. Ill try that when I go out today Senko. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 6, 2006 Super User Posted November 6, 2006 Cotton Cordel's Hot Spots was around before Mr. Lewis' Traps. I still use the Hot Spot with lots of success, and I think its due to larger bb's and a different sound. Matt. Quote
HomersTomaco Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 i picked up 20 of them when they were on sale for $1.88 at bass pro. The ghost color is awesome. Try shaving down that little bump too. mktrout Quote
vtbassin Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I just checked out the yozuri baits at BPS http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=20748&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=5&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse They look great but the cost $8 each I also checked out the rat-l-trap $3.39 http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=7601&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=5&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse The trap bite on Champlain in the fall is great ;D But I always seem to feed a few of them to the Pike I catch a lot of fish with the traps I wonder if I would catch enough more Bass to make feeding $8 RNVs to the pike not so bad?? I guess I will try a couple to see if they are twice as good as the Traps ;D Tight lines Quote
JayPea2005 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Crud, my secret is out! ;D I started using them a couple of months ago and have been absolutely been tearing fish up on them. The baby bass pattern and the black back shad have been my best performers. I was going to change out the trebles, but don't really need to so I have held off. Totally impressed with this bait! Quote

Vyron Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 when i cant get bites with other lipless crankbaits ,hardcore drum will get em Quote

Im wondering if their DRUM series is worth the five extra bucks if anyone who fished with them both could fill us in. I fished today with a Spro and couldnt get bit then changed to the Hardcore Drum and started catching fish. Later I came down a bank behind Doghouse who was throwing a Spro and caught the fish in the photo. I think the difference was the different sound and action of the bait. The Drum has a different lower pitched sound that I feel helps when the fish are getting pounded by other lipless crankbaits. Its a unique bait thats just a little different and its worth it in the right situation Quote
Super User senile1 Posted November 7, 2006 Super User Posted November 7, 2006 Sounds like I need to purchase some Yozuri Rattle 'n' Vibes. I tend to stick with what has always worked for me so I'm usually behind the curve on buying newer baits. I've always used Rattle Traps and the Rapala rattlin' lures. I've had success with them so I haven't considered buying others. Quote
senko_77 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Randall, I think your right about the drum being better for high pressure trap situations. I know that the drum has a tungsten rattle and that gives it the lower noise. It's definately worth the money. Quote
GAMEOVER Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 Great info guys, thanks for explaining the DRUM series further as Yo-Zuri leave very little info about them on their site from what ive seen. All I knew about the DRUM was it had some sort of tungsten plate. The Spros seem to sell like hot cakes at my sort-of local Bass Pro Shop. I wanted a solid performer that isnt overbaught in my area. Id love to see a head to head lure matchup between Spros Aruku Shad 75 (I think thats the name?) and Yo-Zuris RNV but I dont think thats possible for accurate results as each lures made for something different even if the overall concept is the same. JayPea2005 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Get your hands on an FLW Nov-Dec issue. It has a very good product comparison on the lipless cb lines, including the yo-zuri. The article gave the yo-zuri a favorable review when compared to the lucky craft baits. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I see people saying they love these hooks on these things, but here's a heads up. One of the trebles on my rattle n vibe broke and is now only a double hook. It broke off in a snag, so it took a little pressure, but not too much since i was using 8 lb test line. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 8, 2006 Super User Posted November 8, 2006 Take the lure back for exchange or replace the hook. I have never had any problems with the hooks, but "stuff happens." Quote
lubina Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 The Vipe use to be my favorite for years until I discovered the LVR 500, now is pretty much the Hardcore Drum. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Lipless baits and sound. Noisy, for example an LVRD7 - rattles Quiet, such as an LV300N - no rattles. Subtle, such as an LV200 - metal plate. The old one knocker spots are one of the most coveted lipless baits on the pro tour. Brad Quote
