Canadian Kid Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hey Y'all, I know that when most of us go fishing... we got a mess of rods on the deck, and each one has its place. Just curious, which one out of that whole tangle of poles do you like using the most? and Why? What kinda rod, reel, line make it up, and why do you like using it so much? C-K Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I love my 734 Dobyns Savvy. I can literally do anything with it! Pflueger President 6.4:1 15lb Yozuri Hybrid Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I'll bite and I have 2 current favorite setups with both being spinning setups. The first is my: Quantum Catalyst PTi-20B with 30# Power Pro Braid paired with a Cabelas Prodigy 7' M/F and I use this setup for shallow to medium cranks and light spinners. This is in my hands most of the times when I'm out. second is my: Quantum Kinetic PTi-20B with 30# Cajun Braid paired with a Field & Stream Tec Spec 7' MH/F Tube/Rigging rod. I use this for all my plastics, topwater plugs, frogs and lipless cranks. For the price this is a great rod and has replaces a Cabelas XML in my lineup. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 Sadly mine is the cheapest I have idk if its my fav but def most used hands down. Its a cheap quantum tennacy ap 39.99 for the whole combo at dicks. I have it spooled with 10# trilen xl its my do everything rod it can throw a weighless fluke a country mile. Not the most sensative or lightest. My fav but least used is my revo and veritas I have set up for jigs. Quote
Bassin_0502 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 My fav is my 66 St Croix Avid MF casting rod with a Quantum Energy PT spooled with Yo Zuri Ultrasoft. (I think Roadwarrior would approve of two thirds of my selections!) Quote
ynnhoj86 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 My favorite set up right now is my PG carrot stix medium action, paired up with a revo sx with 12 pounds fluro line. I use it just for crank baits and its awesome! Quote
dude loves to fish Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 7'3" Kistler z bone cranking rod - revo reel with 15lb berkley fluro. reel is very smooth and my new rod is super strong and sensitive. Can cast a crankbait way out there with this set up and keep it in the strike zone longer. Love to crank. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 No real favorite, I like everything I own pretty equal. I fish so many different venues and so many different species and sizes of fish no 1 rod can do it all. Probably one my more versatile outfits would be a 7' med action inshore spinning rod with a 2000 reel, 10# outdated PP. I use this outfit for higher banked canal fishing for bass with a wide varierty of different lures. In addition I double this outfit for a light beach setup, ideal for snook, jacks and fish up to about 15 or so pounds. I may not always use it but I have it with me 90% of the time. Quote
Canadian Kid Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 I'm gonna have to bite too, and say my favorite is my 6'9" MH x-F BPS Carbonlite paired with my BPS PQ 7.1:1 spinnerbait set-up. I also have it spooled with 14lb or 17lb Stren MagnaFlex; depending on the cover, water clarity, ect. Im fishing that day. C-K Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Right now its all three of my cumara/ patriarch XT combos. However I'm pretty sure that soon my favorite combo is going to be my mgx/ villain combo.I can't wait to get that thing. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Well, my answer will change with the season. For the summer, I am loving my G Loomis GLX BCFR863 and Shimano Core 100MgFV. Really smooth rod for pitching and flipping into medium to heavy cover. Just give me a lake with a lot of weeds and this combo won't leave my hands. Quote
Stasher1 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Right now I'd have to say my favorite is a 6'8" MXF Carbonlite and Pflueger Supreme XT spooled with 30# yellow Power Pro, but I picked up a 7' medium Browning HiPower the other day that I paired with a Ryobi Zauber 1000 and 30# yellow Power Pro and I'm really liking the way the combo feels in the hand. Super User skunked_again Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 Daiwa Fuego strapped to a Shimano Cumara M/XF. it does most everything well and a few thing very well. it throws a fluke into next week. Quote
bassinbrian Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 G. loomis 853 NRX with a core 51 spooled with 70lb Samurai Braid. I've been using lighter trigs and jigs. The rod it self is extremely light and sensitive with a soft tip thats perfect for throwing accurate casts in and around various types of cover. 2nd would be my Steez SPX with a core 51 (soon to be a pixy type r) also spooled with 70lb Samurai braid. Lines a little heavier then I wanted but I had leftovers to use. This is a very unique rod and its been fun to use just because of that reason. Has the tip of a ultra light rod with a heavy butt section. I mainly throw weightless with it cause of its extremely soft tip but have tried light trigs/jigs and seemed to perform great. This is my newest rod this year so I'm still getting use to it. Quote
detroit1 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Revo on a pflueger 7'6" medium (tube) flipping stick and 12# xl, throwing spin and crankbaits, worms, or jigs. Quote
rayrock99 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 My favorite setup right now is a Shimano Scorpion 1000 XT paired with a Gloomis MBR 783C GLX. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 lets see it would be my 6 ft falcon/pistol grip with a 4600c4 my most used and reliable Quote

Super User Hooligan Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 I've got two favorites right now. The first is my 7-11 MH Cumara with a Calais. The second is my NRX 853 with a Core 101. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 1st. Alphas Type R on 6'6" MH Zillion, with 8lb fluoro. 2nd. Curado 200e7 on 7'2" Powell Endurance MH, with 30lb Spiderwire fluoro braid. 3rd. Curado 200e7 on 7'7" Powell Endurance MH, with 40lb Sufix 832. Quote
Whets Lines Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 It is interesting how my favorites change as I learn more about bass fishing and discover new baits. This year, my hands always seem to grab my 7' MH St. Croix LegendXtreme paired with a Shimano Curado 201e7 spooled with 17 lb. XPS Fluorocarbon. These rods are just amazing. This setup just feels right in my hands. It always feels weird to set this one down and pick up another one of my setups. Whets Quote
djmax22 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I have tried a lot of rods, but I always keep coming back to my Loomis 844GLX with Core. Awesome all around rod from jigs to C-rigs. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 I have a few that I almost always have with me and fish harder than the rest. One is my 6'6"MH Pinnacle Perfecta/Curado 50/12lb FC, it's extremely light and balanced and is perfect for 3/16-3/8oz jigs and Texas rigs. The second is my newest setup, a 7'2"M/XF Cumara/Chronarch D7/12lb FC, I've used it for tubes mostly so far. The last is my 7'M Zillion/Alphas 103/12 FC, it's my tube/weightless/jerkbait rod. Quote

Senkoman12 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 it would have to be a toss up between my lamiglas excel 704C with a 6.4:1 Rick Clunn sig series reel with 15lb yozuri hybrid or my cheap walmart quantum tourament series rod(got it for $10 on sale) with a $30 gander mtn pro select reel with 6lb yozuri hydrid Quote
