ctf58 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Guys I need some quick responses. Looking at buying a 1998 BassCat Sabre with a 150 Merc EFI. Scale of 1 to 10 it is a solid 9. No rips/tears in seats, clear coat is great. I'll list some of the stuff on it Hydro Power lift jack plate Keel Guard 56# motor guide 12/24 trolling motor 3 bank charger 3 Interstate Deep cycle marine batteries (2 yrs old) BassCat trailer with brakes and new tires (Sticker still on the spare) SS 4 blade prop with no nicks Original owner used the boat 2 or 3 times in 10 years total! It was the "Dingy" for a inland yacht in Arkansas. Current owner (2008 to present) used it 6-10 times a year. Estimated total hours on boat is less than 100 (probably closer to 60 hours). Guy wants $8500 but will go for around $8000. I got to know by tomorrow afternoon 4pm. He is holding it for me to take a test ride in it. I'll try to attach photos. I am ****ting myself because money is tight but I really like the boat. I'll be trying to sell my golf clubs ect... to afford it. 18ft 90"?? wide or wider 31 gallon gas tank oil tank Is this a good price?? NADA for boat, trailer, motor, and trolling motor = $9,760 average retail Boat was really dirty at the time of the picture because he showed it to someone else 4 days ago and a storm blew up and it got wet, then a he parked a tractor in the storage building and it blew dust all over it while wet. Look at the reflection of the trailer on the boat hull. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 Looks pretty darn nice. I say take the test ride and wring it out, make sure it runs good. Check the compression on the engine and just make sure everything works. I think the price is pretty fair at $8000. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 X2 on Jeff's response. Quote
Sfritr Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 If the engine checks out, and money portion checked out, I would jump. That upholstrey looks great and that bench seat will be the best nap you ever take on the water. I would also check the tires and bearings if you buy it. A boat sitting that long may have some dry rot and need new tires. Good Luck Quote
07SkeeterZX225 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Sounds and looks like a good deal to me. I'd also consider installing new fuel lines after purchasing do to the ethanol breaking down the older lines. Cheap insurance that may prevent some problems down the road. I'd also go over the bearings on the trailer like mentioned. Sharp boat Quote
Super User South FLA Posted July 20, 2011 Super User Posted July 20, 2011 Dude, what are you waiting for this is how good purchases usually go, go get it now. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 20, 2011 Super User Posted July 20, 2011 I would be all over that like white on rice Quote
BassThumb Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Great looking boat and a fair price for both parties if the motor checks out. I would be wary of those tires. Personally, I would swap them out regardless to avoid a blown tire after dark in mosquito country. Quote
