Dr. Watson Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I prefer Cork, either split or full. It just gives a rod that classic look, also seems a bit more elegant than foam and a bit more sensitive IMO. Quote

steezy Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Steez Air Foam beats them all ! Full Cork Grip Full EVA Grip (or equivalent material) Split Cork Grip Split EVA Grip (or equivalent material) Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 Don´t care if it´s split or full, don´t care if it´s EVA or cork, if it´s cork as long as it´s not too filled with filler I´m fine, what I hate are bulgy handles ( like BPS´ PowerHumpGrip ). Quote
BrASSmonkey Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I tendo prefer EVA, but nt bya hug margin - but it has to be a firm eva, o lkewas used on the originacrrot stix. I just likehe way it feels better and des not tendto look dirty over time. I dont havea preence for full or split grips, usingwhat elsbest fr the application. Quote

Me too.I hate the power hump. Even the st croix hump onvthe avid is a little too much for me. This would stop me from buying a rod before any cork,Eva,split or full grip. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Has to be cork, full length on casting, which is what I use the most. Two piece rub me the wrong way..... Literally. Maybe its just my hook setting style, but I absolutely hate split grips on casting tackle. Spinning is a wrist-set for me, so I really don't care either way. Cork is more sensitive than foam and is simply better looking. The new rods are just like Muscle Cars, you can put Mags, six exhaust pipes, flames, and the whole nine yards on a Challenger, but in time what people really want are the stock, pure cars, not the hyped-up ones that are miles from number matching..... philsoreel Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 I had never seen the cork on a Savvy before reading this thread, but if the example on TW is indicative of the quality of cork they use, I would've sold it too. You have no idea. Balance was the single pro the rod had. Everything else was junk to me, but you get what you pay for. I'm sure the Champions Extreme is a different animal. Quote
tholmes Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I prefer a full cork grip, but high quality EVA is OK. Split grips aren't my first choice, but they're not a deal-breaker either. As long as there's at least some foregrip there. Tom Quote
