BassThumb Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 About 100 smallies while wading. Most of them were dinks. I was out there with a buddy who was wading beside me, and he did the same. 28-30 keeper largemouth while boating. Quote
Wisconsin Heat. Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 actual boating: i think around 6 or 7 because ive only used my boat 5 times on new lakes. otherwise i remember catching around 20 keeper sized largemouth opening weekend (14 in. give or take a few inches) and last year i spent two and a half packages of handpour worms catching a ton of micro bass that were 12 inches and under, average was probably 10" , i lost count at 21 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 only 14 for me .... i'm betting that number is small for some of you guys. jus wondering (in a single fishing day) 176 on October 4, 2007 at a newly opened-to-fishing lake. Quote
jayo123456 Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 ^that's nuts .... lot of dinks though? not 176 2-3lbers+ right? Quote
Red Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 17 for me, all dinks. I have only caught 5 keepers in a single outing once. Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 Several times I´ve boated and stopped counting after one hundred. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Have caught over 100 three times and had countless trips of 75 or so. When the schoolies move to points, you can catch em as fast as you can all day long. Not much size to em though. My best day this year was about 50 bass with my top 5 weighing in at 21.43lbs! Last year, the weekend before a tournament I had 31 lbs with a 10.1 and a 8.14 as kickers! Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted July 16, 2011 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted July 16, 2011 I have had two days where we boated over 30 in an hour. Both days there was running water in Lake Kissimmee and they were all in the 1-3 lb range. On the other hand Kissimmee has handed my many, many more blank days with more than 8 hrs on the water. Right place, right time. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 16, 2011 Global Moderator Posted July 16, 2011 I've had several days of catching 100+ fish in a day but most of them were smaller fish. My wife and I did get on a good school of spots with a few largemouth mixed in on Table Rock a couple years ago. We caught fish on every cast for almost an hour straight with most of them being 1-3 pounds and my wife losing a 6+ largemouth at the boat. Still I had one day a few years back in January on a powerplant lake that I only boated 6 largemouth but the smallest was 4 1/2 and the largest was 7lbs 2oz. I'd trade days like that for 100+ fish days with dinks anytime! Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 In a B.A.S.S. Region tournament on the Pamunkey River in Virginia my partner and I boated over 60 largemouth bass. We actually lost count around 55 so it may have been more. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 125 largemouth before I stopped counting in 7 hours Twice I’ve caught 17 keepers (1 ½ lb+) in row off the same piece of cover Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 I've had days in the 60's maybe even 70's but yet to make it to 100! That would be one heck of a day, dinks or not!! Jeff Quote
bwell Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 About 35 for me, and 75-80 between me and my buddy. Quote
jdw174 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Several times when I lived in Erie, Pa I had 120 fish days (smallmouth). LM not quite as good, but my best day was 29. Quote
quanjig Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 If I am correct Wayne, that would have been opening week-end at Hunting Run?? Fished the Sunday of that opening week-end with a friend and caught 75+ with most fish between 3-5 lbs with a few in the 6+ range. Had 2 giants down near the dam come off after we got a good look at them. Wish they would drop the water level back down. That was epic!! What a feeling to try and shake off 4 lbers looking for bigger fish, and to hook up with 5 lbers and see four or more bigger fish with it trying to get the bait away from the one you have hooked up. Once in a lifetime experience!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 75 at Pickwick during the 2010 Roadtrip. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 16, 2011 Super User Posted July 16, 2011 Best day we've ever had was on the lower Niagara River in May 2004. We caught fish on the first 25 casts and we both stopped counting after 25 each. Got tired of catching so we ate lunch...then did it all over again. all fish were over 2#, many at the 4# mark and a few over 5#. have no clue how many we boated, but it had to be over 100 for the day. A few weeks ago, we ventured on to Erie on a day that we shouldn't have. got to our spot and decided since we're here, we might as well fish. We boated 37 smallies in the 2 or so hours that we were tossed around. Seems they bite pretty good on the rough days!! Quote
JellyMan Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 14 for me... 23 total between me and one other fisherman. We were out for 6 1/2 hours. 12 pack of Coors Light and lots of beef jerky. Fun day. Oh... and the website looks GREAT! I havnt been on in like 2 years! Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted July 17, 2011 Super User Posted July 17, 2011 mid 80,s when i was young and had energy there was about 6 ponds i fished within 3 miles of each other. Me and my buddy rode bikes too each one from 6 am till about 7. Fished all day and i stopped counting at 150 biggest was about 4 lbs for me and my buddy caught the same and landed one bigger then mine .Last time i had one day catching a lot was a few yrs ago 45 and then a storm .. i miss those days no worries ,easy to get permission to fish etc etc.. piscicidal Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I've had three triple digit days. One of those was actually my last trip out (7/7)...I got into a literal feeding frenzy out at the Everglades where I caught fish from a football-field sized area every other cast for ~two hours (I got tired and quit). It was certainly the most fish I've ever caught on one trip...I quit counting after ~80, but my final tally was probably closer to 200 than 100. My second time was also in the everglades...low water situation where the fish were stacked up in the canal and we just pounded them all day. My third was on Okeechobee, I found another feeding frenzy situation where schools of big bass were stacked into this small, shallow area gorging on spawning bluegill. I caught ~120 that day, with 30-40 of them over 3lbs and six over five. I figure I caught ~300lbs of bass that day. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 17, 2011 Super User Posted July 17, 2011 This year its been 16 while pond hopping. It was a mix of largemouth, crappie, and bluegill. Quote
Fat-G Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 This year: 32 pond fishing today. All under 3 pounds, but man they were killing a Spro frog. Lost one that would have been 8+. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 18, 2011 Super User Posted July 18, 2011 Never bothered to keep a tally, after 2 or 3 fish I forget, even if the fish are running 20#+, like this past Saturday. Quote
