3H Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Alright so I'm buying quite a few Rapala lures to start expanding my selection of bait from just Burkley Gulps outward. I had three rapalas *lost one today in a tree :-[* and I wanted to pick some more up, I mostly fish in New Hampshire and I've only been around smallmouths but I want this lot to be able to handle largmouths as well if the opportunity arises, I was wondering if you guys could give any suggestions or critiques about the sizes about what I'm buying. moby bass Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Don't forget the original floating silver minnow, the one that started it all. Quote
3H Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Don't forget the original floating silver minnow, the one that started it all. Actually those are the two I have right now ;D once I was able to get the right action on them they are amazing! I did lose my husky jerk though Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 may i suggest a shad rap in #7 and the jointed silver minnow? i like the floaters and suspending rapala's. use the size you feel comfortable. i use a snap for easy changing while fishing. Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 24, 2009 Super User Posted June 24, 2009 Rapala® Countdown MinnowsCOLOR: SILVER SIZE: CD5 - 2" I'm sure they'll catch bass, but I'd use the CD7 orCD9. The 7 would probably be my choice for bass up north, maybe the 9 for southern locations where bigger bass abound. But neither would be a bad choice here in NY. Quote
EastMarkME Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Origional #11 floater black/gold. Any Rapala collection has to have it...great color/lure. Mark Quote
Boots Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 where in new hampshire do you fish? i use size 9 rapala original floaters, but i have pretty much all the sizes. black and gold and the silver are the best colors in my opinion. i also like the skitter pop in the frog color. Quote
3H Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks for all the replies! I fish mostly southern NH Quote
bigtimfish Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I would'nt get the clackin rap. You should look into the xcalibur one knocker instead. Quote
fivesixone Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I would'nt get the clackin rap. You should look into the xcalibur one knocker instead. I agree with this, but the Clackin' Rap is not a bad lure at all. Quote
Justin0530 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Im a fan of the Skitter Walk for topwater. Quote
MN Basser Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 i'd say the more DT's the better. huge fan of the DT6 and DT10 Quote
