bass-z-no Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 This is a hearty hello from Fresno, CA! If you have a chance to fish here there are 4 good lakes to choose from! Millerton Lake, Pine Flat Lake, Hensley Lake, and Eastman Lake! Come check them out and let me know how you did! Quote
yoster Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Are you kidding, Fresno is a terrible place to fish (I know this is an old thread but thought I'd warn anyone even thinking of fishing around here!) I live right next door to Pine Flat (not really, but 30 minutes away).. both Pine and Millerton are TERRIBBLLEEE bass lakes. Especially compared to relatively close lakes - Don Pedro, New Melones, McClure, etc. You're far better driving an extra 60 minutes to get to McClure (closest of the bunch) than you are these two. Eastman is okay, but very small. It's a trophy fishery so bass must be over 24" to keep, and I think the limit is 1 or 2. Not a fun tourney style lake at all. Hensley is like Eastman but with smaller fish, uglier (note - ALL these lakes are ugly,) and gets very low in the summer. Quote
CAbassboy Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 im from fresno to, bass lake is good, i agree pine flat is terrible Quote
bmlum415 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 First off eastman is 22". Second pineflat is one amazing lake if you know how to fish it. You have a chance at 4+ lb spotted bass up to 10lbs in there so learn to fish the lake. Hensley isn't bad either considering I had a 18lb limit in there this year. The lakes aren't as good as the motherlode or delta but by no means are they terrible at all Quote
bmlum415 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Sorry if I'm being rude but I strongly disagree that the fresno area lakes are terrible. They're fine lakes for tournaments and can produce large fish along with numbers if you know how to fish them and understand the lake and knowing what the bass in there prefer to eat. Like pineflat has spots and you're more likely to catch them jerkbaiting than cranking and dropshotting over a carolina rig Quote
MikeinFresno Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 well........dont forget Los Banos Creek resv as well. It is a fine producer of under 10lb fish. I caught a 6+ and 7 even in Hensley this year..... Oh yeah, dont come here the fishing does suck, stay home............. 2 Quote

I agree though. I've caught myself some pretty good fish this year at eastman... Quote
bmlum415 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yep there's good fishing as long as you know how to fish these lakes Quote
GhostMinnow Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 If u can catch fish in Fresno, you can catch fish anywhere. The local lakes are hevialy pressure, but as long as u know what ur doing catching fish is a breeze. My favorite lake is millerton, plenty of spotted bass. 2nd eastman. Quote

alexandboi Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Ive been wanting to try that lake. Msg me on ur next outting. I probably won't be heading out there for awhile. I fish from the banks and this time of the year it is very slow. This year may even be the worst. If you are still up for it I will start swimbaiting some time in late February and will let you know... Mid march to late April will probably be the best... Quote
MikeinFresno Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 trout, cats are biting at Hensley. Water is down to 6%. Im going there this Sat 1-11. No ramps avail to launch a boat, but I have a kayak and am gonna see what i can make happen. Be there and launch by 9am or so. Quote
