Just looked at the new crucial looks like a really nice rod. It is built on an IM10 blank with alconite guides.

I have a few cumaras and absolute love them, they are also built on an IM 10 blank with sic guides. I was wondering if anyone knew if the new crucial is built on the same blank as the cumara. It seems possible but I hard to believe. If it is this may be the best value out there for a quality rod. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Thanks for any info you guys may have.

From what I'm told, different blank. Same graphite, different blank.

Robby Grant from Shimano says it's the same blank design as the Cumara.

Odd. The couple of people I've heard from is that the blanks are different design.

If the case is that they're built on the same blanks and same specs as the Cumara, what's the point? They've totally and completely eliminated going up to a Cumara versus a Crucial. Alconite versus Sic? Who cares, if the blank is the same as the Cumara. I'll tell you straight up, I won't buy a Cumara again if the blanks are the same.

Couldn't agree more. What is the point of having a Cumara now? I can get basically the same rod for $80 brand new from my connection.

Final overall weight is something to be considered...if it's not as light, it won't be as sensitive.
