So you wouldn't get a Core because you don't like their new stuff?

I would sell it for a Ballistic and $50 of crack

TW has the new curados and chronarchs. I didn't even bother to see if they were actually available yet because after looking at the specs I didn't care. :o

The old curado e is now the new chronarch and the new curado has regressed. Guess I'll be checking out Daiwa and Okumas new offerings this year.

The only positive thing I saw was that the Citica now offers a 7.1 gear ratio. I've never seen that before. I may pick one up. As far as the rest of the reels I feel the same as everyone else. Still love my Curado D's! Still looking for another 200DPV if anyone has one to part with. Had to throw it in there!

Looks like "The Posse" is stirred up a bit.

I'm not stirred up. I'm simply stoked that I now have 6 green chronarch's.... ;)

LOL. But don't you want any white Curado's?

Burley told me he sold all of his Core 50's because the $200 50e was just as good. There's no way in hell a Curado will EVER compare to a Steez, or even a Zillion for that matter.

I think hands down Shimano owns (or at least did own) the $120-$180 reel market, but I also think anything above that and it's no competition for Daiwa.

I own a couple cores. My comment had nothing to do with the Core but rather the Curado and chronarch line.

Of course the Zillion is going to be superior to a Curado. It cost $100 more! As far as no competition for Daiwa at the top of the line I have to disagree. Shimano makes a lot of high end reels that will compete with any reel on the market. I give Daiwa a ton credit for produce quality reels with a lot of bling, but I have always preferred Shimano's.

I have both Curado and Zillions. You can't compare the 50 series to the Zillion - apples and oranges (both on target price and intended use). The Zillion may be my favorite reel but the Curado is also excellent. So are Revos, Pfluegers, and Lews. The posse's insecurity is hilarious, but not a reason to bash a very good product.

wow some unhappy Shimano fans, never thought I would see that.

Posse must really be upset.

Shimano Cheapening their products?

Glad I got a CU50E at the sale price of $98.00

Made in Japan.

Are they made in China now?

Looks like the Curado has cut some corners.

1 Less bearing, Line guide is no longer Titanium coated (what will braid do to this)

On the positive, it lost about an ounce.

Abu Posee? Diawa Posee? Quantum Posee?

Looks like Shimano Posee might be ripe for a takeover.

I have both as well now. I will say that the Zillion is $100 more and well worth the extra money. It blows my 50 and old 200e7 out of the water by a long shot. I thought my 50 was really smooth until today. The Zillion feels like greased glass on glass.

I believe that for $90-$120 the Curado is an amazing reel, but I would never pay full price for one. Actually I will never own a Curado 200 again, most likely. They are awesome reels for the price, though.

I'll stick with my Quantum products and sure the reels will be nice once some of you get them in your hands but looks like they are taking a step backwards from reading all the comments.

Hey guys,

i ordered the Shimano Chronarch 51E and the Shimano Crucial 6'8" Med Hvy but i have a question, whats the difference between the normal casting rods of the crucial series and the reaction casting rods?!

And think about to order a All Star rods and the most comments are very good but can somebody say if their worth their money?(All Star TAS-807C), i know its a Shimano thread but i wont open a new one for only that question:)

Hmm...

Can't wait for my new reels to arrive. The Posse rides tall.

These are probably a new generation of the finest reels ever

made. I look forward to fishing the new models.

Shimano leads the the way in innovation and state of the art

technology. Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. I expect

the 2011 edditions to set new standards for all the

"want-a-bees" to emulate and attempt to copy. I hope the

competition stays in the hunt, but right now that does

not seem to be the case.

Seems as if Shimano is concentrating on its other lines of business for innovation...Bicycles for the posse to ride tall :lol:

As someone that has worked extensively in the cycling industry... Their bicycle components/shoes make up ~20% of their business. This ought to tell you just how large their fishing business is. (Rowing and Snowboarding are drops in the bucket for them)

The 2012 models "to me" should be fine. The "downgrading" of the names is purely marketing, "Golly I can gets myself a Curado fer $150!".

If I have $200 to spend I'd still look at Shimano even if it was called the poop-slinger-delux, not necessarily purchase it, but I'd have to look.

As I stated earlier, I see no innovations but a step backwards if nothing else. The only plus to me would be the lighter weight.

Less bearings, No titanium. Seems like they wanted to lower the cost so something had to go. If the Curado 200E's get a little cheaper, I'll probably pull the trigger on one but that will be it for me. Long live the (new) posse!

Remember- some people drive Chevy's and some people drive Ford's. A Chevy is a stripped down Cadillac. A Ford is a stripped down Lincoln.

Now it appears a Shimano is a stripped down Shimano. (couldn't resist getting the posse riled up) :D

Only time will tell.

It's not even challenging anymore. The memo has been sent out and a happy face has been put on.

Yep, exactly how I feel. Curado is a great reel at $100, no way I'd pay $199 for one.

I agree, I love my Curdaos, but I got them below list values and I would not pay $199 for my 50E. But, I also invoke a personal rule in order to prevent spending $$ on fishing supplies from getting out of hand. I do not buy anything more then $200 rod or reel. If I cant find good quality reel @ $200 or below, there's a problem.

I want to try out that Zillion Hayden, but probably not being buying one. Diawa has been around for a long time so, I know there good stuff. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about them.

Comparing the specs from last years reels to this years reels,I can see why many of you guys are complaining. The new curado G has the same specs as last year's citica and now $159.

They should have changed the names....because now it's all misleading information. Shame on Shimano!

Really disappointing that the Chronarch name was dragged through the mud too. The good news is it is a competitive market and it will allow me to spend my dollars elsewhere.

It doesn't matter how bad the specs are, the posse will buy them by the truckload and recommend them to everybody who asks "What's the best reel for $____" regardless of whether or not they've actually used them.

Kind of like all the people bashing the new reels that have not even hit the store shelf yet, let alone been put to use on the water. OH I forgot, this is the internet, you kids are all instant experts.

I agree that you have no right to bash something you have not yet tried but in all fairness, I think most posts are people stating their opinion on the decisions made by Shimano and the direction they chose to take with the new lineup. I don't recall seeing "this reel stinks" or anything similar in any of the posts. Like everything else in the world, the only constant is change. Time will tell and people will get used to the change and either like the product or not. Then we'll see the bashing or the love. I'm sure Shimano will be O.K.

Wonder how many of the posts were from "kids"
